Sales rep Robert came to our house for what he said would be a 20 min talk about solar. Two hours later, my husband was missing work and my children as well as three others I was watching (6 children under the age of 5) were running around our house in pure chaos. Robert told us we could just sign the consent to start the process to see if we’re even eligible for solar (he failed to mention that what we we’re actually signing was a contract to install solar panels on our house!).

A month later after he told us we were approved, we told him we didn’t want to go through with the install quite yet. Over the next month we started looking into leasing solar panels more and decided it was an unwise financial decision for our family. We also received over 15 other estimates during this time, all of which were at least half of what Dynamic SLR inc had quoted us. All of these companies did a site survey and created a personalized panel plan for our house. The only thing they didn’t do was get a city permit (which I have since found out costs under $100).

It was only at this point that he tells us that what we had actually signed in the midst of pure chaos and rush was a contract to install panels and that we owed them over $6,000 if we wanted to cancel.

We understand that they have put money and time into the project but feel completely blindsided by their extremely unreasonable demands. They informed us that they had completed a site survey, applied for a city permit and put together a panel plan for our roof. Even in the contract it states that the cancellation fee is to cover these specific costs (which cannot possibly amount to $6,000). It’s absolutely unfathomable to us that after outright lying to us about what my husband was signing, they would demand such an insane amount of money from us for deciding not to become a customer.

My husband is a disabled veteran and we are a single income family. I stay home with my children because we cannot afford childcare. Jesus, the customer service representative that I spoke with on multiple occasions, informed me that this is the very first time this situation has happened to them. I would hope that if this is the first, and hopefully only time this ever happens to such a massive corporation like Dynamic SLR, they would be able to have some mercy for a family that truly had no idea what they were getting themselves into and cannot possibly afford to comply with their unreasonable demands financially.

At best the sales rep truly had no intent to trick us and at worst he took advantage of an extremely stressful and chaotic situation to get us to sign something he had no intent of explaining beforehand. We feel taken advantage of and extorted.
