While painting my 94 year-old Mother's home, E&P Painting (Earl Urquhart--who also goes by the business name of "Earl the Pearl Painting" convinced Mom that she also needed to have her deck rebuilt and that they would be happy to do it for her. Long-story-Short, they completely tore off the existing deck, left the material piled in her back-yard, collected an up-front deposit of $5,000, and then disappeared. Turned out, E&P Painting's Contractor License had been expired for nearly a year (this being the license that allowed for general construction work) and Earl the Pearl's Contractor License only allowed for painting/wallpapering activities. We have involved an attorney in our efforts to recover the $5000 FRADULANTLY obtained (STOLEN) for the work never performed! My advice--check out any contractor properly on the State L&I website AND avoid any work being performed by someone named Earl Urquhart...
