2. On 01-31-17 I began calling and texting him to see when he would be out to finish the job. At this point, he left me with: 1) totally unsanitary conditions and, 2) a safety hazard to my tenants and public that uses the sidewalk in front of my property. There are too many unsupervised children in my neighborhood to leave an 8 foot wide by 6 foot long by 4 foot deep sludgy hole right next to the sidewalk. The Bangor Borough Permit and Safety inspector came to the property on 01-30-17 and sank to his knees when he stepped off the sidewalk to inspect Eco’s work. I am currently waiting for his report and will send it when it arrives. The below picture was taken on 01-29-17 and is time and date stamped on my phone (does not appear on the photo).
Also, the pipes are crooked, the concrete platform is severely undermined and, I didn’t realize at the time, that he failed to cap the pipes properly which allowed the sewer gases to back up inside the house. This condition is both a code violation and a safety concern for the 11 tenants living in the house! I will elaborate on this in more detail below. I also had to deduct $300 from one tenants rent because he so generously cleaned the poop off of the porch and surrounding areas. AND I have to repaint the entire front of the premises.
3. I texted and called Eco approximately 10 times (I have the texts and can produce phone records if necessary) until 02-08-17, 10 days after he supposedly completed the work. Below is my final text and his only reply.
4. As of 02-17-17, Eco had failed to return to my property to finish the project and correct the safety issues, as I described previously, so I hired Heart & Soul Landscape Services to backfill the hole. A copy of the cancelled check in the amount of $180.00 is attached. He is a longtime friend or it would have cost me much more.
5. On 03-16-17 I called my local plumber, Nicholasen’s Plumbing and Heating (Nicholasen’s), to look at Eco’s work because I still had not heard back from them and I no longer trusted the work they did. Nicholasen’s informed me that the pipes were not vented properly and finished the job on 03-17-17, by properly venting the pipe, receipt attached. I’m fortunate that my tenants are not filing suit against me for having these potentially hazardous conditions associated with the sewer gas venting into the house.
6. I own several rental properties in the area and have never refused to pay anyone, but then again, I’ve never had to dispute anyone’s poor workmanship so I hope you take the seriousness of this issue into consideration. It is my opinion that Eco should not be licensed to perform work in the State of Pennsylvania!
