I had Ed out to check my tub faucet for leaks (my previous plumber for the renovation left a slow leak behind the tile that caused the caulk to fail and start washing it into the tub).
He disassembled the valve housing and then I heard him curse. When I walked in to see how things were going, he started complaining about how the installing plumber didn't "strap the pipes" down.
He puttied up the tub faucet and the valve front panel - he only had apparently a single small tub of putty because I had to run out to a supply store for more.
After he left (after I made the mistake of paying him $85 wasted dollars) I checked the handle. He left it very loose - I tightened it up myself.
My wife then took a shower and wiggled the handle further - the tub faucet and valve housing completely turned - it was looser than it was before he looked at it!
My renovation contractor had a handyman on-site that day who looked at the valve and found that the two mounting screws had been removed. My suspicion is that Ed had dropped the screws into the wall when adjusting it and tried to cover it up with putty.
Not recommended and shame on me not to completely check his work.
