By JasonDecember 8, 2014heating and cooling$1,0001 dayGreat to work with
I contacted Keith the owner by phone. He was able to come out almost immediately to give us an estimate. There was no hard sale pressure at all. He was very thorough and gave us suggestions and things to think about. After we decided to go with his heating and cooling company, Keith was able to come out the next day! The Boise heating and AC pro was punctual and professional. Upon completion, Keith went the extra mile in cleaning out our filters and our garage looked better than before he started. He was great at articulating how the air conditioner works so I would know how and when to use it. He programmed the thermostat for me before he left. His Boise plumbing partner Ben came out to assist Keith and was very personable.I had to leave my home a few times, leaving Jason alone in our west Boise home. I felt secure and had no worries or concerns of leaving our home open to him. I know should we ever need repair or maintenance done with our gas, furnace, or air conditioner, we will call Keith. This was probably one of the BEST experiences I had with a company from start to finish.

During the maintenance, the Boise heating and cooling tech broke the furnace so that it could not be turned on. He said the ignitor was rusted and when he took the metal brush to it, it just fell apart. Without the igniter in place, the furnace would not turn on. I asked him if he could get a replacement part for it. He said he would have to call his office. He made the call outside in his van. He told me that there is no part for the furnace because it was too old. He arranged to have a sales person come out to make a bid on a furnace replacement.
Later that same day, a sale guy arrived to collect the data to bid on a new furnace. He stated that I was lucky the furnace broke since it was so old that it was probably causing me harm. I told him that I had CO2 detectors in the house to check for that sort of thing. He commented on many things, including the bad plumbing in the basement, asbestos tape on ducts, negative pressure near the gas water tank, that the thermostat was located next to the fireplace, and that the heat vents were 'oddly' positioned.
The next day I did a Google search on the furnace and found the igniter part available from a local distributor. I called Einstein plumbing and asked to speak to the heating and cooling service manager, Tammy. I asked Tammy about getting the part. She didn't appear interested in doing this and asked me if I got a bid from their Boise heating and air conditioning salesman. I pressed on about how my furnace was working prior to the technician doing work on it and that Einstein plumbers Boise should make an effort to fix it. After a contentious conversation, she said she would see if she could locate the igniter part and call me back in an hour. She called back and said she found the last igniter available and that she was able to get a technician to come out and install the part that afternoon. I asked her the technician was skilled in working with these types of furnaces and she said yes. I wonder if they looked for the part the previous day, or not.
I left work to meet the second technician at my west Boise home. He said that he has worked on many older furnaces and had more experience than the first heating and cooling technician that was there the day before, who broke the furnace. He proceeded to work. He then called me to the basement to tell me that the igniter was not broken. Replacing it would not get the furnace to start. I asked him what the problem was. He did not say, but instead told me how the furnace was and that the heat exchanger was cracked and that I was lucky the guy broke the furnace. Otherwise I may not wake up from sleep. He wrote up some notes and asked me to sign the paper. I asked him why I would sign anything. I am not an expert on furnaces in Boise. While he was there, the sales guy called him on the phone and asked to speak to me.
The heating and ac Boise sales guy reiterated that I was lucky to have this happen, and that the first technician was not experienced with old furnaces. At this point, I had to state again, that the furnace was working just fine until the technician did something to break it. No one will tell me what was broken and I would like to know what can be done about this situation. The sales guy said that he would have the owner of Einstein Plumbing Boise contact me the next day. I never heard from the owner. On his way out, the Boise heating and cooling technician complained that my Halloween decorations covered my house address and that I should consider moving the garland.
I would have liked to have had Einstein plumbers Boise own up to their mistakes and not lie. I spoke with 4 people at that company and not one was apologetic for breaking my furnace. Instead their attitude was arrogant in that they were doing me a favor. It was a very bad experience overall and I would not want anyone else to go through it. There is more to say if anyone is interested in contacting me directly about this heating & air conditioning company.

The Boise team was very responsive, thorough, and trustworthy. I was not living in my home when the plumbing issue came up, so Einstein had to interface with my tenants. They were extremely helpful and clear with me as to what was going on, which is much appreciated.|They also called me before each subsequent activity/charge, so that I could confirm that it was approved instead of my tenants. This is extremely important for landlords like myself who own few properties and cannot afford to have maintenance costs escalate.|I would use them in a heartbeat!
