On May 7, 2022, I had Harold Packer of El Gatos replace some brick with treated lumber. He said he would also put in a handrail at no extra charge. By May 28, the boards were wobbling. He came back and said the house must be settling because he’d done the job right. And he has a photo. But he attempted to make it right.
On July 31, 2022, I lost my balance going out to the patio. I grabbed the handrail and it came completely out causing me to fall. I broke my humerus (upper arm). I contacted Harold and he said I had altered his work, that someone was sabotaging him. I’ve got photos of the screws totally missing the board they should have been hitting. What would have happened if this had been one of my neighbors? I didn’t threaten to sue Harold. I just wanted it fixed. But I certainly don’t want him to do it.
I now look at his website (elgatosresidentialconstruction.com) and he has a photo of the job he did for me. He posted it on May 31, 2022, which was after he fixed the wobbly boards.
