    Metal roof

    I just had a metal roof put on by Elmer cook construction and am very happy with the quality job I got. I researched his process and found that everything he shared about radiant barriers was backed by science. I am looking forward to many worry free years with this roof and lower electric bills.

    Contractor didn't communicate concerns

    Our job was a small metal re-roof on an 85 year old home with an obviously sloping shingled roof. Mr. Cook provided an estimate himself and looked at our home. He explained his insulating product well and the process he would use. He was very clear about his timeline. What he wasn't as clear about was explaining the limitations on correcting the sloped roof and what the end result would be.
    The roof still has quite a noticeable slope to it and he explained that his crew worked very hard to make it look as good as it does. We were not informed during the installation that they could not correct this problem. Mr. Cook visited the site on several occasions during the installation and did not inform us that the sloping problem would not be totally correctable.
    They had worked on the roof 4 days and the roof was about half complete when we got a look at the roof and my husband let Mr. Cook know that we were not happy about the situation and needed to talk. Mr. Cook came a few days later and discussed our concerns with us but said there wasn't anything else that he could do. He said he spent about $1000 over his estimate in material to correct the problem to the current condition. My husband stated to Mr. Cook, that we should have been informed during the work of the situation and maybe we would not have been as shocked to see we now have a sloping metal roof instead of a sloping shingled roof. Nothing else was offered by Mr. Cook to make sure we were satisfied with the roof.
    His work crew worked very hard every day they were here. We were informed by Mr. Cook after working on our project for 4 days, that he had to pull the team off our house to complete another project. They came 4 days later and finished the job, and it didn't cause us any problem as our roof was not open to the elements.
