I don't often write a review online, but I felt I really needed to for this company.
Emerald hardwood floors were referred by a neighbor and after looking up the reviews online I went ahead and hired him.
He was always disappearing from the work site, I assume to work other jobs at the same time he was supposed to work my job. The 4 to 5 day job took 3 weeks to finally get done because I was a nice guy and didn't get angry when my house was just sitting there for a week at a time not being done. Initially he was given a key to the house as all the contractors had one so they could work whatever hours they were comfortable with as long as the job was done in a timely manner. Towards the end of the job I took back his key as we changed the locks and prepared the property for listing. He insisted on a key after that and I told him I would be happy to come and unlock it for him, but was not passing out keys with new locks.
On the last day he was there he asked if he could please get his final check, and he would be back in a couple of days to finish the job as he was working on the other side of the town, and it would only take him about an hour to finish. I thought that was harmless enough, so I gave him his final check and that was the last I saw him.
Initially, he agreed to come on a Tuesday so I gave him my son's phone number and asked him to call him to set up a time and he will be there. My son waited all day and at the end of the day he called and said he couldn't make it. I then re-scheduled for Friday and I canceled my plans and waited all day for him and every time I called him he said he was on his way and stuck in traffic. I kept contacting him and he kept saying I'll be there and he kept making a time that he was going to come and never showed up.
Finally, after two days of playing this game, I had to pay more money to another flooring contractor to come and finish Emerald Floors job.
THIS IS THE CONTRACTOR THAT THE GOLDEN RULE WAS WRITTEN FOR. (DO NOT GIVE HIM THE FINAL CHECK BEFORE THE WORK IS COMPLETED).
I had to learn this the hard way. I would never use this company again.
