My husband and I built a custom home with E.S. Johnson Builders in 2015. The experience was devastating both financially and emotionally for our family. During construction, we raised some concerns related to a variety of serious design flaws and poorly installed products. The majority of these issues were not addressed, the builder denied requests to meet to discuss and he locked us out of our home. We never received a move-in date, even after waiting two weeks after the Certificate of Occupancy had been issued. Eventually, we had to hire a locksmith and break into our own home. E.S. Johnson Builders then sued us for payment for work they never completed. We spent a full year and an incredible amount of money for legal representation to defend ourselves in arbitration. In the end, we won back the money to complete the unfinished and faulty work in our home, but there is no reimbursement for the pain, the hundreds of hours lost and the legal fees we incurred. I would absolutely not recommend this builder to anyone. There are so many other great builders in the Lake Norman area that have great customer relationships. Choose someone else.

We wanted a custom home that would reflect our lifestyle which meant a wide open floor plan with a beautiful view of the lake. That is exactly what we got when we received the keys to our new home in 2014! I can't tell you how many of our family and friends comment on how beautiful our home is and how unique of a floor plan we have.
We also wanted a new home but wanted to have the character of an old one. Shiplap, custom cabinetry and the two fireplaces, one being stone and the other brick, reflect that feeling of cottage style living with a vintage feel of an established home built years ago. We chose ES Johnson because they really focus on those types of homes.
Hands down, we would recommend this builder. So much so, that we have often showed off our home to couples that are considering building with ES Johnson Builders.
