My mother, Dolores M, is 93 years old. This review is in her own words: I'm unable to mow my 2+ acres of lawn. 3 years ago I hired Evergreen landscape and Maintenance to mow and trim the yard. The first 2 years were great. Although, the owner's description of the work to be accomplished was confusing, the workers completed the tasks to my satisfaction for two years. (2019 and 2020)
2021: the service has been sub-standard. Neighbors noticed and commented on the poor mowing and trimming.
February and March 2021, i was billed for services (mowing, trimming, grass pick up and dumping in a specified area on the property); however, there was no sign of any activity and by the beginning of April the grass was high and dandelions were going to seed.
After paying over $700 for Feb and March, and not seeing any evidence of mowing, I had Evergreen contacted to find out when they would be out. They said they had been just out, but after inspecting their mowers they found the mowing equipment was set too high. They said a credit would be requested and should appear on the next bill. That never happened.
Subsequent lawn mowing/trimming yielded poor quality and incomplete mowing: HALF a section of the lawn was not mowed at all leaving the lawn 2" taller than the immediately adjacent section (see photos), Clumps of grass left throughout the lawn, cut grasses left in the lawn (not bagged or raked)
Again, it took several calls and emails (my daughter assisted with emails and sending photos), I was assured a credit was being requested from accounting (no credits issued to date). I was also assured the owner would personally come out to talk with me and inspect the work.
2 weeks passed before the crew returned with the owner (at this point it's been 2 weeks since the lawn was left half mowed with clumps of grass throughout the lawn). The owner NEVER spoke with me. She did NOT stay until the job was completed. Instead of talking with me she went over to my neighbor's home. During her meeting with him she said she was understaffed after losing 1/2 of her crew.
Although the job was better, there was still portions left untouched (for months) Seeing that the owner left without talking with me, I asked my daughter to talk to the one crew member stilll remaining When she asked if a specific area that had not been mowed in months would be mowed he said he only took direction from his boss and his boss keeps telling him "we don't do charity work". He said he is very confused by the boundaries, but could only take directions from the owner (Arianna).
My granddaughter came up to take me to lunch. When we drove in I saw that areas were STILL not mowed or trimmed. My granddaughter witnessed me calling and leaving a "firm" message stating I wanted them to come back immediately and finish the job that I've been paying them to do. I'm old and do not appreciate being taken advantage of.
2 MORE WEEKS PASS... the work is still incomplete
Evergreen Landscape called to set up an come out to my house, asking that my daughters also attend the meeting. The meeting took place, yesterday..
During this meeting the owner, Arianna, started by listed off some of the calls from me (none of the voicemail messages were acknowledged in her list). She asked what changed this year that caused me to be dissatisfied. When I said that the lawn wasn't mowed, she said "my mowers were here, the trucks have tracking devices". When I said the areas were missed, she said "shade and rain caused them to grow" (the difference in height was photographed immediately after the mowers left).. She used intimidation and blamed me for the poor services this year. She insinuated that the problems this year have to do with my daughter who has relayed messages on my behalf because I had a heart attack and can't handle the stresses associated with trying to reach them an communicate my dissatisfaction.
The owner lied about the terms. She blamed me, stating I was unclear in my description; I replied the mowers for first 2 years did the job correctly.
I feel the owner took advantage of me. She's fired.
