    New Roof
    $10,000

He put a new roof on a home we purchased. We have had a major problem with leaks and he does not respond to emails or voicemails. Guess he is waiting for the warranty to run out, which will happen some time in January.

    Residential Construction
    $265,000

We had a great experience. Our home was complicated and the contractor handled it well and was very knowledgeable about construction and management. We have recommended him to a few friends and will continue to do so.

    build house

After losing our primary home in the 2016 wildfires with contracted Matthew Evon of Evon Construction out of Jefferson City to build our new home. It’s been 14 months since they started construction. At the time of this letter, we have a foundation and the framing of the structure that has failed the City framing inspection. All the windows are incorrectly installed and do not meet code. The stairs do not meet code and are not level. We are missing part of our roof, and the decks. The structure also has several framing issues that will prevent the structure from being finished unless they are corrected first. The entire structure does not sit on the foundation square. The entire second floor sits on the first floor three quarters of an inch in more than the first floor; the third floor is about one half inch in more than that; The sheathing is not properly secured to structure nor does it pass code, Some areas are missing the sheathing and other areas are the sheathing is too short and needs to be replaced.
It is important to note that Mr. Matthew Evon of Evon Construction rarely came to the job site. He sent his “crew” to frame the structure, that Mr. Evon states “are not framers”. Mr. Evon has billed us One hundred thousand dollars and still has over eight thousand dollars of our deposit that he refusing to give back. The framing has cost us approximately $19.44 a square foot for labor and material. A figure much higher than the standard for most locations including East Tennessee. Mr. Evon states he bills for hours worked. It is important to note several witnesses can attest that when they came to the job site his crew would be sitting around. In fact, our neighbor hired Mr. Evon to finish out her cabin. She received calls from other contractors at her job site informing her Mr. Evon crew were sitting around doing nothing or “playing cards”.
Mr. Evon has known about the framing issues for over three months yet Mr. Evon has not rectified these issues. In order to pass the city framing inspection, we have to pay another licensed contractor to come in and fix all the issues Mr. Evon/ Evon construction has caused.

    Build home
    $230,000

When someone quotes you a price to build a home and then when it's FINISHED, not DURING the construction, they bill you for 37% more then agreed on price after it's done; in addition, they do not pay the cabinet makers for their work, I call that horrible service. We were not the first people this had been done to by this builder. There were bad mistakes that made the house plan different, and did not do the basement properly so that it floods. We spent lots of money correcting the mistakes made by this builder. Do not go with this company unless you want to end up in litigation.
