We hired Faith Mountain to clear a standing drain in our kitchen sink, to fix a dripping outside faucet and fix the elbow underneath the sink which would leak while the sink was clogged. Austin arrived on a Friday at 10 am. He diagnosed our issue in 15 minutes and went to get parts. His cost was $987.43 (WAY more than we expected) however it was a Friday, our sink hasn’t worked all week, didn’t want to find another plumber on the weekend, and possibly this was a serious issue that would take MANY hours to fix.
Austin returned and within an hour he fixed the outside faucet, installed a studor vent underneath the sink, and poured Clobber (drain cleaner) down our sink. Austin said the clobber should work and to call him directly the next morning if the problem wasn’t fixed and he would return the next day to clear the drain. We paid the $987.43 and assumed they would complete this job considering the high price we paid and having a mission statement focusing on integrity.
Saturday morning the drain was still clogged and the pipes he repaired under the sink still leaked. We spoke with Austin Saturday morning and he said he would call Adam (Owner) to arrange a time to come out and finish his job. Austin never returned our call. We called again at 2:49 PM and we left a voicemail. Nobody returned our call Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Monday we decided to cancel the check we wrote due to the sink still being clogged and feeling like we had been taken advantage of and facing the possibility of Faith Mountain plumbing never returning to clear the drain. We called the main office to politely let them know that we had cancelled the check until they complete their job. My wife called the owner Adam at 4:30 PM. My wife spoke with Adam and calmly attempted to explain the situation and why we cancelled the check. Without knowing any details of the situation Adam became EXTREMELY aggressive, loud, and belligerent towards my wife stating “he would be taking legal action.” He stated that plumbing was equivalent to a car dealer and we have to pay for the trial and error of them fixing the situation. We can understand this IF the bill wasn’t $987.43 for 1 HOUR of work. He continued his aggressive behavior telling her that she had agreed to pay for the services and gave her no opportunity to discuss the situation. He continued a rant about customers doing this to him in the past and him not receiving payment. He was inconsistent with his reasoning first stating that the drain was unclogged when Austin left, and minutes later admitting that he didn’t even know about the situation. He blamed my wife for speaking with Austin on his personal phone “which is against policy for his employees.” We assured him we are happy to pay him once they finished the job. The conversation ended with Adam aggressively yelling “We stand behind our work” and assured her he would contact Austin for a time to come out.
The situation became more confusing. Minutes later we received a text message/picture of our receipt stating “please read the bottom line where you signed this.” This was where we signed our bill which also in fine print states “I hereby acknowledge the satisfactory completion of the above described work.” The next message stated “Austin is calling you to set a time to open the drain. FYI.” We immediately received another passively aggressive text accusing us of lying stating “FYI, he (Austin) has a text at 7:56 am Saturday from your number…Don’t see any calls on his call log.” This could have been easily handled if Adam just decided to call Austin before personally attacking us and understanding all the details. Austin called back and said Adam ordered him to return Tuesday but we had to pay in cash however Tuesday Austin informed us that he would not be the one completing the job and we had to call the office.
Tuesday, We called the main office and they said somebody would be out today. “Daniel” called Tuesday at 7:44PM but we agreed he can wait until Wednesday. Daniel arrived Wednesday at 2:45. He immediately filled the drain with water and noticed the leaking pipes Austin installed. Daniel quickly fixed the pipe (again) and tried snaking the drain. Daniel left at 3:45 to get an auger and returned at exactly 4:45. Thirty minutes later Daniel had the drain cleared. Expecting to pay our bill of $987.43 and maybe a discount due to the extreme cost and the behavior from Adam, Daniel stated that Adam was willing to give us a discount and only charge an additional $225.00 which now brings the bill to $1,227.63! I asked Daniel to explain the reasoning for charging us more. Daniel explained “we don’t charge by the hour and it is situational.” Completely disgusted with the whole situation, the treatment from Adam and wanting to never again do business with Faith Mountain we paid the bill. I feel that Faith Mountain was far from meeting their mission statement of “Quality + Integrity = Good
