David Phillips, or Family First Painting Contractor in Coatesville, PA is a scam artist. He effectively stole our down payment. We contracted him to scrape and paint the exterior of our house, he didn't scrape, he didn't pressure wash as promised, and only painted spots right over the dirt. Not only that, he lies about it!
It turns out, after we fired him, he told the guys he hired that he couldn't pay them because he was fired. I hope those guys shake it out of him. -

We hired David and his crew to do and extensive overhaul of a home built in the 1920s. David the owner of family first painting was on site from the beginning of the project and provided a very detailed outline of the time in the whole project. His crew cleaned up at the end of every day this was a very drawn out project and they made this house look like it was brand new. I have since recommended David to neighbors friends and relatives and he has also done my next door neighbors house and it looks great!

My experience with this company was the worst. It started out okay but quickly went downhill. He hired a subcontractor who was unprofessional and extremely messy and pushy. He was not at my home a good part of the time they were working. Paint was spilled on my woven wood blinds. They started painting 2 of my rooms the wrong color- luckily I was home to stop that! He used the wrong color paint to patch mistakes made by him and his workers and he knew it was the wrong color. I mentioned to him that there was paint on my AC unit and he just mumbled something like that XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXs but did not make any effort to clean it. When they left there were paint cans left everywhere, trash on my floors, paint spots on my carpet and hardwood floors as well as paint on my slipcovers, windowsills, etc. When I tried to talk to him about it he blamed it all on a subcontractor. well guess what- if he hired him he was responsible for his work- right? I would never recommend this company to anyone.
Response from Family First Painting Contractors June 1, 2016I would first like to acknowledge the fact that I personally am disappointed in the fact that Sherri didn't enjoy her experience. I would like to point out that her bad experience has to do with a subcontractor that, as a young business owner I hired. However after this was pointed out to me when I returned to the job he was immediately terminated. This kind of unprofessionalism is not reflective of myself or any actual Family First Painting employee and We have 100's of satisfied customer's that if hired we can provide reference information for. Thank you very much
