We couldn’t recommend Farr Built Homes more! They are the kindest most helpful builders.
We did a pretty large addition. When we were reaching out for bids there were two companies that gave us bids. Farr Built Homes bid was detailed and understandable. The other companies bid was simple and $30,000 more than Farr Built Homes.
They helped us through the process from beginning to end. Throughout the process Tyler and Lowell were completely honest and open at taking our ideas and making them realistic and beautiful. Mckell was amazing to reach out to for ideas and recommendation on the final touches for our home.
Tyler and Lowell would recognize and catch problems throughout the building process and immediately come up with solutions. (General Problems arise when you are adding onto your home)
They were kind, generous, and honest. They truly care about their craftsmanship.
My family is extremely grateful to have done business with Tyler, Mckell, and Lowell. If we ever build a home from the ground up I already know who we will use as our home builders!

Farr Built Homes...... is great to work with they make the big task of building your dreams seem like no big deal and make you feel very comfortable in making decisions. Their contacts and subs and suppliers do great work, they are clean and take pride in their work. Makes you proud to show off your house and be proud to share who helped build our dream home. The Farr's were always happy to talk with us, and help us understand the process so we always felt involved in the process and in control of our dream.

My husband and I have built 3 homes, working with Farr Built Homes was one of the best experiences we have had. Lowell, Tyler and Mckell were so easy to work with. Tyler or Lowell were (still are) so easy to get a hold of and they frequently met us at the job site to go over things and answer our questions.
The attention to detail and professional craftsmanship that were portrayed throughout the entire house construction are first class. The follow-up of minor items that were discovered after moving into the home have been rectified quickly and completely to our satisfaction. I would recommend Farr Built Homes as a builder for anyone that wants a quality home with complete satisfaction. We enjoyed building our process and absolutely love our new home. -

We highly recommend building with Farr Built Homes. After meeting with several different builders, we opted to go with Farr Built Homes. We have not regretted that decision once. Very accommodating with plans, doing work on our own and answering any questions we had. If we decide to build another home, we will definitely search them out to use them again.

TLDR: House quality great, but price-check their materials estimate, ask all the details of what things are included in each item of the bid (i.e. they group things oddly), and make sure you have your finalized cost breakdown with you when you pick out hardware, doors, plumbing fixtures, etc.
Details:
The quality of our home build is excellent. Willingness to let home owner do work to save money is appreciated. We had a couple defective items in our house (bad bladder in water heater expansion tank and a bad door bell), but ...or was a quick call to the contractor, and the respective sub-contractors took care then pretty quickly. No complaints there, and that's why they have 3 stars instead of fewer.2 more stars missed because I'm not a fan of the general contractor double-dipping profits. What I mean, is charging $25k for general contractor profit (totally fine with them making money for their work - that's the point of doing business), then fluffing numbers in estimate (materials and cost) to keep additional profit -- PLUS moving the extra building materials (from the fluffed figures) to go to another build site for someone else's home (not cool, because my money will pay for that for the next 30 years). If they want extra materials in case they get junk from their materials supplier, I understand the advantage of doing that - from a logistical and process standpoint, it's wise to do so. But if I paid for any materials, then 1) extra materials should be returned and I receive the reduced materials bill, or 2) I get to keep the extra building materials. I paid for them.
Prove to me my logic is faulty. Is there any other industry that robs the customer like that?
Plus, when we were told to pick doors, plumbing fixtures, etc., we didn't understand the process entirely - Gen Ctr told us to "go in, and tell them that you're my customer. They'll take care of you." We assumed that meant that background communication occurred so the store would know more than they really did. Store people said "oh, you're one of his customers? Pick whatever you want - it's all covered by his bid estimate." Neat! So we picked some doors we liked.
A week later, the Gen Ctr called me and yelled at us for picking such expensive doors, that we don't know how to work within a budget, etc. He was mad, and let me know those two things several times before I could break in enough to say "I get it already. We will pick different doors." ...it was like he thought we had mugged him at knifepoint then kicked his puppy in the mouth or something.
One other note (advise, really): visit your house often as they build, and verify the build against the plans. Be thorough. We designed our house to be expandable - and we failed to catch that they had run electricity through walls (and the framed-in doorways) we intended to open up once we expanded. We weren't thorough enough. Anybody can make those mistakes, or we may not communicate figure intentions well enough. That was kinda our bad for not being more thorough.

By Debra H.January 15, 2019Build my dream home$450,000
I absolutely love my new house. I never imagined myself having a house built just for me. But from start to finish, Farr Built Homes made it a great experience. Lowell, Tyler and McKell were so helpful when it came to answering questions, advising on decisions and listening to my thoughts. Even after I had moved in, they were there to answer questions and to make sure every little detail was completed to my expectations.
My house turned out even better than I expected. I adore all the beautiful work that was done and wouldn’t change a thing. If you are thinking of building, you really need to contact Farr Built Homes. They are honest, friendly, very professional and great to work with.
Sincerely,
Debra Hyde

By Jennie W.December 23, 2018I currently live in a home they built.$200,000
The home I live in was built by this company. I moved in over 10 years ago and have not had any problems or concerns with the construction of the home. Any time I have needed assistance or follow-up on an appliance (water heater) or wanted information on the home, I have been able to contact someone in the group and they have promptly come and assisted with whatever I need. I will be looking to purchase a home in the future and will likely go through Farr Built Homes (Lowell Farr Construction) to either build or remodel. I will choose them because the home I live in really feels like a home. It is warm, safe, and easy to live in. I also have really liked all the homes that have been posted on their website (farrbuilthomes.com) and gets me excited to see what they have done more recently.

I’m not the type to leave negative reviews but, I left a review for #Farrbuilthomes
“We don’t recommend Farr Built Homes (Lowell Farr) unless .... you want to go check on your house 2-3 times daily to catch mistakes that they don’t catch because they only go out to the worksite if something is wrong. If you want to have a contractor that doesn’t respond till late at night or when you have problems find out they are out of town again hunting and left no one in charge.. If you want to be charged $7,000 more on permits than it actually cost. If you want them to put a roof on your house with an inexperienced roofer that voids the manufacture warranty.. this list goes on!”
Stating the truth of how they treated us during our house process and how they are still treating us.. We have been battling them since June on our roof and they still won’t do anything about it we have light coming into our attic so clearly this winter we are going to see water damage and it’s going to be more than just a roof needing replacing..
Clearly you can see in the pictures problems from the ground but, when your on the roof there are hundreds more issues.. we have over 200 pictures of all the problems.. you can see even when our roof was started the ice and water shield & underlayment wasn’t done properly!!
They deleted my review and blocked me from leaving comments.. Please SHARE so the next person that builds with them knows what they are in for..

We absolutely love our farmhouse. It turned out better than we expected. This was our first house build and we are so glad we got to experience it with Farr Built Homes. Building a custom home can be stressful with lots of decision making along the way. We are glad we had the Farr’s guiding us through this big process. Not only did the process go well we also made really great friends along the way. The subcontractors were great to work with. The framers even suggested a small change in the layout that ended up giving us an extra closet. We appreciate them paying attention to the small details that ended up meaning a lot in the end. We would recommend building your custom home with Farr Built Homes. Thank you Tyler, Lowell, and Mckell for the help, guidance, and making our farmhouse vision become a reality. We love it and are so glad to be home.
