  We had Fernandez Landscaping (Fernando(?), owner) out to the house twice to talk about our project (a paver and pea gravel patio w/firepit) and were given a bid that was reasonable. He was very pleasant and seemed very passionate about his work- he even stated that he didn't want payment until the job was complete and we were satisfied. We were not home when he came to start the job, but after the first day, we could see the beginning of what we had asked for, and were excited. He came a few days later to complete the job (again we were not home), but when we did get home, we were very unpleased- the job was NOTHING like we had discussed. He used mismatched landscaping materials and placed material that we'd specifically told him we DIDN'T WANT! He was already gone but had left his work trailer in front of our neighbors home. My husband texted him around 2pm to let him know that we had concerns (not to mention, we still hadn't paid for the job) He said he was on his way back, but didn't show up, call, or text again until the next morning. When he did arrive, I expressed my concern about the materials and the changes he'd made without consulting us. I reminded him that I specifically told him not to use some of these materials. His reasoning was "the materials you wanted were out of stock and it would take too long to get them" he stated that it "is better this way". I told him that it looked awful and sloppy with the contrasting materials and that he should have talked to us instead of improvising. He then changed his story and told me that I must be 'confused', arguing that I 'told him to use these materials'. He became very agitated, pacing in circles, ranting about God looking down at him; and stating "I don't care, you pay me and I'll take it all out". At this point, I just wanted him go go away- I told him to take his money, leave my property and I will remove it myself. NEVER AGAIN will I use Fernandez Landscaping- or any other contractor for that matter- $3500 down the toilet!!
