Tyson took over a year on a 3 month project. To this day it is not complete. During this project I spent a majority of my nights and weekends working on as well. We hired a contractor so we would not have to do this all ourselves.
My husband and I took several days off to complete interior portion of our
remodel. We had to paint and caulk a significant amount of trim, stain a wood wall and some additional wood trim, finish a patch job in the ceiling and paint the whole ceiling, we also had to finish painting the walls in a couple places. He had discarded our vent covers, which were not standard. I had to locate new ones and paint them to match our paint palate. He also made the opening to the shower in the basement extortionately wide and did not put studs at each end of the shower to allow us to install a closure for the shower. I had to identify a way to close the shower to be able to utilize it.
We have now had water twice in our remodel. Which has left my husband and I removing drywall, replacing drywall, fixing all three egress windows, reinstalling carpet. All of which should have been handled with urgency from Tyson. We will also have to block in the remaining windows, pour the remaining concrete.
This overall experience has been overwhelming and very unpleasant. If I had to do this all over again I would NOT!
Communication, reliability and concern are not a priority.
This experience has taught me a lot!
1- Put a timeline in the agreement with consequences for delays.
2- Request a copy of the contractor’s insurance. I wish I had that at this time.
3- Review the contract to ensure you and the contractor cover all expectations from both parties.
4- Obtain and visit with references. (Most of his reviews are friends, family and employees)
5- Be very diligent and thorough when hiring someone to do work for you.
