I spoke with Wayne Fields on two occasions about my A/C and I had two completely different experiences. My first experience was very pleasant and professional. Both times my call was answered by a lovely lady that was very professional. My first experience basically entailed a quick look at the “outside” of my AC unit and what he thought the problem was.
The second encounter was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. During our first encounter, I was given an estimate with a huge range ($250 - $1,000). After thinking about it for a while, I figured I might be able to get a more precise estimate if we actually opened up everything and looked at it. Makes sense right? It is certainly easier to know what to fix if you know what is broken, and you can’t see it until you open it up. Plus, I didn’t want to get XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXered into the bait (only $250) and switch ($1,000) tactic.
For some reason, presenting this request to Mr. Fields completely set him off. To say that Mr. Fields was anything less than rude and insulting would be an understatement! I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt. However, even that is difficult in this situation.
It wouldn’t surprise me if some people have very good experiences with Mr. Fields and his staff. It also wouldn’t surprise me if some decide to never speak to him again. As of right now, I’m leaning more toward the second option. If you are the type of person who just wants something fixed and DOES NOT care about what happens to YOU’R A/C or how much it is going to COST YOU then Mr. Fields MIGHT be an option. If your situation does not fall into those parameters than I would encourage you to consider your other options.
