By Jeff C.August 7, 2019Framing for remodel$11,000
I hired this company to do the framing of a remodel I was doing in my home. Everything seemed great till I had an inspector come out and tell me the work that was completed was not to code. The Structural beam he quoted and had me order was a 9 1/4" beam and per an engineer needed to be a 14" beam. This is costing me money for a new beam as well as money to have another builder replace the beam. This created a safety issue for my family. The builder after I reached out to him Shut down his facebook page then Blocked me from Messager. I was blasted by the builder for posting a bad review and that he would handle as soon as I took down the bad review he stopped responding to me all together

We hired Jim Ciraface of Fine Home Builders on December 2019 to replace our internal stairs as well as an exterior storm door and interior 6 Panel wooden door and frame. We have an older house and made that clear, allowed a walk through and discussed in detail. We were told no problem they worked in older homes and were experts in stairs. Jim Ciraface provided a Contractors License, Proof of Insurance , wrote a contract to the details and assured us he would pull a permit. The Storm Door was installed properly but it was not the one we had wanted it was split door instead of full glass, the inside door was framed and installed but we had a two inch gap on one side and it did not close properly that was supposed to be fixed before the job was completed according to the builder. The stairs were a complete debacle as one stair on the winder was only six inches wide at the middle (very unsafe and not code). When we pointed this out to Jim Ciraface he got mad and then raised his voice and started arguing with us. He took his tools and our money already paid and left. When contacted he stated I was to pay him additional money that was not due until the work was complete and inspected or he would not come back. Since then he will not respond to any communications and blocked us on Facebook. His certificate of insurance was a fake he never had insurance with the company our lawyer confirmed and of course no permit was pulled. We have since found a competent and licensed contractor to repair the door and remove and reinstall the stairs properly. All work was done to code and passed inspection. My advice be wary of doing business with Fine Home Builders or Jim Ciraface.
