We purchased 2 fireplace units from Fireclass for our home that we built. One was a gas log fireplace for the main floor, they delivered a natural gas fireplace, and we had ordered propane. This, along with other mistakes made on our wood burning fireplace in the basement, held up our move in date significantly due to inspection delays.
We used the wood burning fireplace for 4 months, and it is now deemed unsafe to use by a 3rd party fireplace inspector. Due to improper installation, the welds in the unit cracked. Fireclass refused to replace or fix the unit. This is a $10,000 Fix that fell on us. I was beyond disgusted; they blamed us, stating that we shouldn't have used a grate. No where in the manual, that I read carefully, did it say we shouldn't use a grate.
