By TomJune 26, 2019tree trimming on property$5,000
I’d ideally like to recommend Firefighter Tree Service but sadly I just can’t. As far as the tree trimming work goes, I think they do a very good job that I was pleased with after using them on two occasions. The problem is that on both occasions they broke things on the property and didn’t take responsibility for it. To be fair, I never alerted them to the first occurrence of breaking an outdoor sculpture (although it was obvious) but the damage was such that they really couldn’t do anything to repair it anyway. The more recent occurrence involved breaking a shared fence with a neighbor who was really pretty upset about it. Although the company agreed to fix the fence and promised to do so on several occasions they simply didn’t show up. After politely bringing it to their attention they ignored me. So sad as the repair would have been minor (I paid a handyman $100 to do it) and you’d imagine that maintaining a good reputation with a repeat customer would be valuable to them. I guess not. So, rather than having a happy customer who recommends them to their many neighbors they get a frustrated and disappointed customer who can’t recommend them and wouldn’t use their services again. Too many high quality tree companies in the area to settle for lack of responsibility, professionalism, and ethics.

Dennis refuses to complete the job he was paid to do. We agreed to and signed his invoice that stated he would take down a redwood tree and grind the stump. His crew took down the tree, covered over the stump with dirt and debris and absconded with the check which was promptly cashed. Seven months of back and forth and it's been nothing but excuses from Dennis. We too doubt he has a license or is insured which is no doubt why he is able to provide low quotes. But he is not trustworthy and full of excuses. DO NOT HIRE!

By a user in AptosFebruary 16, 2018cut down several trees that were small and no permit required per the county$2,600
He showed up and he demanded payment while the job was being done. It was not even 30% done and paid him. I had to leave because the kids were hungry and he said "trust me, it will be done!"
So, we left. But come back, and it was not done and they were gone. They left the debris all over. I tried to contact him and he makes excuses about needing a permit. The county said "no permit required for that size" and DENNIS SANTORA avoids me. He will not refund, nor do the work. I've given him both options.
His webpage has no license number, no insurance, no address for doing business as (DBA). He will take your money and leave!!!!! DON'T HIRE HIM!!! I got shammed by him, don't lose your money.
Worse yet, if a tree falls on your home, he has no business license in California. Even if he shows you insurance and he has paid for it, it will not cover as he is not in business in CA properly. Insurance will say "no coverage, he is not licensed!"

Dennis was paid to trim our trees, instead they thinned out our trees and cut branches that did not need to be cut. Not only did his crew do an unprofessional job, every single one of the branches hanging over the fence are still there. Not one was cut, which is what we hired them for. I had to hire a certified Arborist to come out and assess the damage. Our Japanese Maple tree was severely damaged and is now susceptible to disease with the location the cuts were made on the branches as well as all of the nicks and cuts on the surrounding branches. Owner refused to come back to our location and go over the job with us or at least finish the job they were hired for. DO NOT USE THIS TREE COMPANY.
