Had a terrible experience getting to closing and after it continued. Sales person was rude because we called the office to get an update on her day off. We’re constantly lied to about closing date. Almost nothing was fixed after blue tape walk through and 3 weeks after closing we still can’t get the items listed as exceptions fixed. Major lack of integrity, professionalism, and common courtesy!

I’ve had the worst experience ever with First America Homes. I would not recommend them to anybody. I bought my first home all by myself, have spent my entire life working my butt off to save for a house, and they have made it a disaster. There have been a myriad of problems, but the most pressing that still exists is 5 months ago, before i closed on my house, FHA agreed they needed to patch my driveway for minor damages. However, after closing, instead of patching it, they completely replaced one panel of the driveway and two of the panels walking up to my front door. The replacement concrete they used is obviously the cheapest material available, whereas the rest of my driveway had decorative pebbles in it. FHA, and their repair manager, Johnny Corea, have been extremely rude and unprofessional. They are completely refusing to fix the driveway to atleast allow it to match, even if in the cheapest material. This is the pride they take in their work - to completely ruin a brand new house and cheat an honest homeowner out of enjoying it.

I’m writing this review because my fiancé and I were just featured on Good Morning America talking about how amazing this builder is…..NOT . I don’t want to put out false information and the truth is everything started off great until our sales agent Cassandra started providing us with false information or should I say we finally caught on she was lying to us . We were never told even despite being in a contract interest rates continuously go up (I’ve never bought a home before so this is information I would’ve loved to know) Cassandra would say things like “you guys came in perfect timing, the market is crazy now ” so this entire time I trusted her word that we were making a good decision. Finally, after she stalled us from reaching out to our lender for an update we were told the market is bringing up our mortgage to $2,300 and we were told “it could go up even more before closing” and we should “just wait because the market may go down” ( we all know the market isn’t going down anytime soon stop lying to your customers) keep in mind we NEVER received a closing date so we’re just blinding trusting people who are lying to us about what’s going on with our house. We were told we had our down payment fully covered just for them to ask for money to be put down with barely an explanation. I recently found out I’m expecting so we made the decision to just look elsewhere considering we couldn’t justify paying 2,300+ for a 1,500sq ft house with no incentives and no good deals. This leads to our sales agent arguing with me saying we’re making a huge mistake and we will not find better. Actually, we did find better DR HORTON… we close on our new house in one month and it features everything First America couldn’t offer. First America told my fiancé and I the $1,500 incentive we get covers only blinds and a garage opener. We asked for her to elaborate and we were just brushed off. Dr Horton has all of that standard along with a sprinkler system , discounts on your security system AND a fridge .The funniest thing is our new house is 2,100sq ft and our mortgage is CHEAPER. Finally, we were ready to sign a contract with Dr Horton and Cassandra REFUSED to cancel our first contract with her .She kept telling us to wait after we said multiple times this “deal” is not worth the price. We had to call the lender directly to cancel our contract because she kept stalling and now they’re refusing to return our earnest money which was $1,000 ( DR only asks for $250 and it’s refundable) we went on the news saying nothing but good things yet they can’t even return our money after Cassandra said they would??. I even called their cooperate office and they never returned my call ( I asked Cassandra for her managers/ cooperate office number and she literally said google it lol) This company is a joke please don’t make the same mistake we did. We completely got taken advantage of and Im definitely reaching out to GMA to give the world an update. It’s just interesting how this company treats their customer’s. It’s upsetting that our sales agent was fully aware that we’re expecting and had no where to live after our lease is up and still suggested we put in our 60 days notice with no closing date in sight. I’m glad I listed to my gut and never put the notice in because we would be homeless. Now we lost $1,700 ( $700 in upgrades) I will be sharing our story everywhere This could’ve definitely been handled more professionally.

FYI Future Home Buyers,
First America Home Builders Quality Workmanship Notice
We've noticed since we moved in that this house is very noisy during a wind storms. It appears there was a nail shortage during the build.
Check your siding we were able to lift the siding up all around the house were they missed nailing it down all around the house.(about 200 + places missed)
They sent someone out to fix it using T-Nails that went completely through the siding and not accomplishing anything. The next day they came back to caulk over the joints where the siding pieces come together and it looks like they used their fingers instead of a caulking gun. Then they painted in spots where the work was done with paint that clearly doesn’t match. They came back yesterday with an attempt to try and match the paint and wanting to remove a piece of siding to take to get a match. If anyone is considering buying from this builder do your homework also their concrete driveway’s are starting to crack after the first year.

I had a good experience with everyone but the contractor in charge of the build had weak support beams with cracks water damage and more water damage to windows leaking and being called a liar when I have proof of the leaking and his fake inspection guy didnt even call out the wiring was done incorrectly. Floors unlabeled and then didnt do anything on the final punch list but we were 2nd ppl to buy in amd waited 8 months to move in amd already have issues with electrical the first week and water heater never worked first week had to get that fixed and the tubs amd showers were incorrectly installed he said he couldnt fix that friggin insulation still coming through all the air vents and he was just rude to me so no jake sucks as a contractor since we moved in all he does is drive e thru the hood every so often doesnt really get out of his truck k and has ppl that cant measure or cut straight doing the build on their own amd they bring their teen sons to help them build so it's like what is really going on here. Some questionable building here in dayton tx but over in Encino they actually care how its built and make sure they get proper inspection but we didnt wanna drive e further to work the whole reason we moved to dayton in the first place to be closer to work but as far as sales rep josh is awesome they do have a great guy at sales office he needs to be promoted he is very personable and caring about my concerns as far as jake and his friend that runs up and down the rd I hope their tires pop like mine has twice from all the glass and nails and screws they leave in the road . And when they do construction they throw their nails in my yard along with their trash and lunch trash and bots of metal sliced my foot went thru my shoe. Karma is a turd she will get him i have faith in that.

No I would not recommend this builder. I signed a contract on January 2, 2021. Been waiting for six months for my home to be built to receive a call three weeks before closing telling me my contract has been canceled. Now my daughters and I are left with no home and scrambling trying to find somewhere to live. This has been devastating to me and my kids. I will never recommend First America to anyone. Please be aware of what can happen to you and your family!!

They definitely just tell you what you want to hear. Walls are thin and can hear everything outside. When faced with issues that my warranty should have covered, find out they always had an excuse or loophole to not fix anything. Maybe they should have corrected there problems before handing the keys over and letting the customer scramble with time and money to fix their mistakes.
