Hurricane Sandy Cleanup: DO NOT use this company; they are PRICE GOUGING! To start, when my Friday appointment to have water pumped never showed up. When I'd called for status a little after 4 p.m., I got shuffled between two girls and put on hold each time, the last time being left there until I hung up some two minutes later. As I was about to leave with a friend who had come to get me, they showed up with a generator and two hoses and pumped in total darkness. The $800 estimate went up, which was to be expected, but it didn't go up to $900 or $1000; it went up to $1750!!!
Yesterday at work I called the company to get an estimate on basement water pumping on a house my size, in my neighborhood, and was given the runaround again. On all three of my phone calls, I encountered something like two or three girls putting me on hold, seemingly trying to get their stories straight. One finally provided the cell phone number of one of the main guys. I had a co-worker call for an estimate, and she was quoted $900, and when she told him she was still shopping around, he quoted her an estimate of $500--in a matter of three minutes of conversation.
Last, I still have water in my basement. They never returned as promised the next a.m. to pump the water down to ground level so that I could get stuff out of my basement in daylight and before the high water table and non-working sump pump caused more flooding. I have reported the company to the Division of Consumer Affairs, but just please BE CAREFUL with these opportunists. There is not much else that is lower than kicking people when they're down! AAAAAARGH!
