    Landscaping
    $15,000

I had a landscape design drawn up by a landscape architect. The plan was not followed as written with plants not planted in the correct location in one area and the wrong plants in another. Biggest issue was the constant changing and delay of the initial installation dates after the patio was installed which caused a scheduling problem for me since this is a vacation home. I had to have surgery in May 2021 to repair damage to my left shoulder that I incurred in combat years ago so getting to Wilmington had to be planned in advance. When Flora would cancel the installation date with little notice it caused problems since I had to rearrange my PT schedule.

Bottom line is that I was not on site when installation was started and partially done which led to most of the issues. I held back less than 5 percent of total project cost because I wanted adjustments made, which I would have willingly paid for, and to have plants that died/withered which were under warranty replaced. Owner assured me that if final payment was made (which it was made even though there were difficulties with the USPS not delivering the check mailed as it was returned to sender as not deliverable and I was in Italy for 2 weeks so I could not provide a replacement check quickly), he would square the situation away. He has now reneged on that promise as I sadly expected. My gut instinct was to withhold payment until I was satisfied with the project but I trusted the owner to be true to his word after he assured me repeatedly there would be no issues. Sadly that was a mistake. I guess the job to be done is too small to be worth his while.

Flora was definitely not cheap so not the best value. They had one of the higher quotes to do the job and the quote for outdoor lighting was obscene. It was at least 40 percent over their competitors. In addition, they modified my irrigation system with drip lines and apparently caused a leak in the system where they tied those lines into the main system which resulted in 2 very high water bills. Had that issue fixed by the irrigation company that I use on a regular basis at my own expense.

So all in all not the best experience but the yard does look much better. My recommendation would be to seek landscaping services elsewhere.

Flora was not my first or even second choice but other companies were booked solid through the end of the season. I would recommend Pink Zebra.
