We had a very good experience with Florida paver. The owner Alex always quickly responded to our questions and concerns. The work was done quickly and very professionally, and the crew was polite and hardworking. We did get other quotes that were much higher, so we felt that the price was reasonable. Our new driveway area and front walkway are beautiful! We are planning to use them for our next project. my wife and kids are so happy. highly recommended.

By Dana J.May 26, 2022Install psvers and a 16x16 pergola$21,700
Most unprofessional and rude crooks I've ever had the mispleasure of ru6in to. They will turn your dream into a nightmare. We signed a $21,700 contract giving a $10,850 deposit. Another $4000 after pavers installed. Had to get a permit and evidently they didn't feel they would pass inspection so they ripped off the pergola roof and cut the supporting beams in half. Lawsuit to follow but horrible sight in my back yard

Beware, they will install the wrong pavers, then refuse to correct or refund money. See BBB prior to hiring Florida Pavers and Pergolas. There is a list of people they have scammed.

By Candy C.June 6, 2021Landscaping project$20,000Read more
From start to finish my landscaping project has been nothing but a nightmare.
After 2 months of signing the contract I had to reach out to them due to their lack of ANY communication of the install start date. Ryan immediately responded and said they would start the NEXT day ? since it was just before Thanksgiving we decided to wait til the following Monday so as to not be left with a mess over the holiday. The whole concept/design is just awful. I didn't know what I wanted I just knew I didn't want to deal with the @2ft slope behind my pool anymore and wanted it maintenance free for my dogs. Well they excavated my yard over 4 ft deep leaving me with a retaining wall and pavers that now have erosion and the install was not done as discussed. There are broken pavers throughout the project that Alex the owner claims are "rustic." They have damaged my fence and left me with an initial $20k project (a project that I have an estimate for over $10k to have to fix and make right) that I have disputed with my credit card company and won yet they charged my credit card before (for the remaining balance because I had no intention of paying until the job was compete, to my satisfaction and in CASH) and again after I won in arbitration for the full amount which I am having to dispute AGAIN. (This is a scam move) I have been in contact with FP&P and Alex claims all work is done, above and beyond my contract yet my pavers are not sealed per the contract and I am being called a liar by Alex for a conversation that I had with Ryan, his sales rep, that they had a hard time getting the turf I selected so they installed an upgrade without contacting me for approval BEFORE installation, again, not fulfilling MY contract. Alex is very unprofessional and do not make him upset as he will threaten you with not completing the job. This is my personal experience with this company therfore from MY experience I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!!

THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE UGLY
Customer Service: Horrible
Finished Product: Satisfactory
Referral: Absolutely notWe hired Florida Pavers and Pergola’s to do a $17,500 job. They did a great job being accommodating with our timeline that kept fluctuating initially. They started on a Saturday and finished laying them by Tuesday, which is when most of the remaining $ was due. After seeing the set up, we decided prior to installation that the firepit and the additional French drain that was originally included in the contract would not look good. The owner, Alex said he couldn’t remove it from the contract and we still had to pay for it. He said he already bought the materials, so we just didn’t make a big deal about this $550 but kind of a red flag from a customer service perspective.
We noticed there were quite a few areas that had too much unevenness, certain pavers that were not glued on properly, and our coping was different colors, so we asked them to be fixed. They came to fix a few and we were told it is just the style paver we picked out by Alex and the difference in the color of the coping was normal, who never even came to look at the job. We called Alex, at least 7 times over a 3-week period and didn’t receive one phone call back. At this point we felt like he took our money and was never coming back to fix a bad job. It took them 3 weeks to come back out and fix the pavers however ultimately, they were fixed. The coping situation was not addressed.
We also had FPP wrap our patio poles. They are uneven and completely unacceptable. We were told that is just how our poles are structured and there is nothing they can do about it. Alex said he said he didn’t want to even do the poles to begin with but we made him and that’s what we are left with. The sales guy saw the situation with our poles and never said there would be an issue and they could work with it.
We communicated that we were NOT happy with what we have gone through and asked Alex what he would do about it, we said we at least want him to pay for the material for us to redo the travertine tops correctly and OURSELVES for the poles. Quite frankly when I am spending $17,500 I shouldn’t have to lift a finger but not the case here. We sent him the invoice and he decides to leave us a voicemail saying he isn’t covering the $100 in shipping (he did venmo us for the materials, $200) but continued to tell us that we actually owe him $2,500 for the extra sq. footage he had to use since we have overage which he isn’t charging us for. Well I was never informed of this overage before they laid the pavers so I think this is an excuse but in the event it is not, seems like Alex’s problem that he didn’t communicate that before because I would have said shorten the area I don’t want to pay any overage.
Our biggest issue with this company, specifically Alex, is the communication and lack of drive to make a high dollar paying customer happy. Alex will probably read this (we hope he does) and have his own view but we tried to include all facts in this review. No matter the issue a good company will do whatever they can to make the customer happy. Alex wanted to argue back and forth, and we quite frankly do not have time to deal with a SKEEZY company any longer. Our backyard in the end looks beautiful but the process to get there feels very much IN SPITE of Alex, and not thanks to Alex. We ended this job feeling we did not get our $17,500 worth due to the troubles we went through. Our friends have all asked who did the work and we have already told them DO NOT use FPP. It’s funny what one unhappy customer can do to a business. We much rather have given our $17,500 to another company who wouldn’t have put us through this stress.
If you do choose to hire FPP after reading this review I suggest you make your own contract terms or do not go with them. Make a large portion due after the sealing is complete and you are 100% satisfied.

By Linda A.June 26, 2020Pavers on patio, pool deck and walkway
Florida Pavers and Pergolas just completed a large paver job around my pool and that included a walkway. Alex stayed on top of things and Eric’s team, along with Mateo, Will and Josh. They were a pleasure to work with. Any questions or concerns that I had were answered or taken care of in a positive and professional manner. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others. 5 Stars!

By David F.August 23, 2018Pavers and pergola$1,500
Please do research before doing business with this company. They had to rebrand their business because of bad practices and reviews. Look up the company "A Better Paver" on yelp, BBB, and other places. Alex de la Hoz is the owner and is a crook.
Alex the owner of this company came over to our house and was professional at first. After taking the first half of the money they did the job with numerous issues. Firstly the stain on our pergola was shoddily put on. They sent someone out randomly to our house and he applied stain without putting tarps down and got it all over the freshly installed pavers. They then took the other half of the money for the job that was not completed. After trying to get in touch with the company for two weeks we finally heard back from Alex after disputing the charge and getting refunded back from our bank. He came back, trespassing on our property under the false pretense that he was taking the pergola to be fixed. I was told to wait two weeks and he would be back. Over two weeks have passed and after trying to get in touch with him from another persons phone he told me he will not complete the work.

Amazing team of professionals that built a pergola better than I could have possibly imagined. I don't normally leave reviews but I am in awe of this huge structure in my backyard. I hired Alex and his team to install pavers, and they looked great. Then I decided that I wanted a pergola. They built it over a period of 4 days. It is amazing. Professional work and the price was right.

I initially found them through a local publication and I was searching for a small paver area for my back yard. Alex came out and showed me some sample pavers along with a design for what could be accomplished with my small yard. That project was about 4 months ago and it worked out great. Since then, I decided that I wanted a pergola installed on the concrete. We discussed designs and size for a bit and his team came out last week. I LOVE this pergola on these pavers. It's completely transformed my yard into something that I can invite guests over to enjoy. My next project with them will most likely be an outdoor kitchen. Looking forward to working with Alex and his team again.

Let me start off with the pricing for the project wasn't the worse but still expensive but we agreed with the project because their sale person was very professional and understanding. Now to the issues. We told them to be very careful with the sidewalk concrete slabs and street gutters. They said everything will be taken care of with no problems so I let it be. The project took 2 days and when it was done they had one of their employees asking for final payment. I told them when I get home from work I will inspect it to make sure everything is good to go. I'm so glad I didn't pay the remainder balance. They damaged almost every sidewalk slab when they removed the driveway concrete and damaged the street gutter. I spoke to their manager and was told they will have someone over to repair the damages. Well he tried but trying to fix damaged concrete isn't easy. So my HOA sent me a letter a few days after I spoke to the paver company. The letter stated that the damages need to get repaired in the next 30 days before any fines are given. I told the paver company and they had the balls to tell me they aren't responsible for any of those damages and the damages were they before the project started. I surprised them with video of their employees causing the damages and they still said that they will only try to repair it. The repair isn't exceptable and now they are getting a lawyer to try to get payment. Also their employees had no place to use the bathroom so they decided to go on the side of my house to pee. They didn't look around carefully because I have they employee peeing on my house all caught on video. Also when they ate their lunch they left used wrappers and napkins on the floor by my front entrance. They also left cigarette buds all over my property and when I say all over it was ALL OVER my house. I picked up over 12 buds just in the front of my house. So now some pavers are still cracked and damaged and they aren't going to do anything because they didn't get final payment. I should of listen to past reviews! So to sum all up please for the love of god don't use this company you will regret it.
