Phil built my home around 1992. He gave me a fair price but before he pounded a nail he needed more money because he underestimated the amount of fill he would need. I gave him a check. Included in the contract was roughing in the ductwork for the first floor for central AC. He didn't do it but said he needed more money for that because something else cost more than he figured. I paid him the extra money. He never installed the ductwork and now I have a half ass central AC system. When I moved in I noticed the floors squeaked badly. I went into the cellar and saw that a LOT of the nails did not go into the joists so the floorboards moved when they were walked on. This was on the first and second floor. We had a baby and would put her in the crib when she was asleep. The floor squeaked so bad that by the time we left the room the squeaking would wake her up and we would have a crying baby. Phil came back and said that the nails missed the joists. He acted like it was no big deal. He did screw the floor down in the baby's room but that was it. To this day the floors squeak badly. I call them "Florio Floors". The clapboard siding was also nailed on with a nail gun. The nails would back out and the boards would warp and pull away from the house. I called him and he said that the nails missed the studs, again like it was no big deal. He did nothing about it. The driveway lasted only a few years before it started crumbling and falling apart. I had to have it dug up and totalling replaced for several thousand dollars. When he was almost done with the house he must have gotten bored and refused to install several fixtures like the toilet paper holder and towel holder in the downstairs bathroom saying it wasn't his job. I had to do it myself. Phil had said he would build a doghouse for my dog but never did. Before I realized Phil XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXed so much I hired him to do a couple of jobs at a 3 family I own. He rebuilt outside stairs. When he did he pounded nails right through the vinyl siding and messed that up. I also had him fix a leaking kitchen sink. He replaced the drain and the plumbing. A day or two later suddenly the drain let go and I had a flood come into the first floor kitchen. He came back and sure enough the drain he installed had come apart. He fixed that but didn't do anything about the damage to the kitchen ceiling. A short time later he changed his phone number. I would never hire Phil to do anything.
