New driveway, sidewalks and garage floor
    $12,700

Hi my name is Terri from North Olmsted and I want to begin by saying that my husband and I have lived and owned our property for close to 35 years and prior to those 35 years we owned another home for 9 years, plus owning an investment property. My point in giving you a little history about ourselves is that until we hired Vito Florio, JR. in mid July, 2020 we have never been compelled to write a derogatory review on anyone, restaurant, company, contractor, etc., that is until we hired Vito Florio, JR.

We should have realized prior to contracting Vito that he was anything but reliable because before he even came out for an estimate, he cancelled numerous times, providing us with flimsy excuses each time. After he started our project he was always, always running late or a no show. He gave us ridiculous excuses over and over, putting our lives on hold, inconveniencing our lives with his lies and inconsideration. Because of his cancellations and no shows our project crept well into the 8th week. Vito's excuses became much more excessive as our project crept into weeks. So many times he would tell us he'd be at our house and then a no show, but yet his men would be waiting in our front yard for him. When we asked his team where he was, they did not know. Bottom line, Vito was always running from one job to the other, always seemed confused and certainly did not make our project a priority, but we have to assume all of his customers probably felt the same.

We were very good to Vito and his crew. They always, meaning everyday had a full chest of bottled water, sometimes cookies and popsicles. There was one time Vito talked us into buying lunch for their whole crew, the day they were pouring the cement. He promised in return, if we brought in the sandwiches, chips and pop for he and his crew, he would in return do a small extra job for us. He never did, we don't believe he ever intended to do that small job in the first place. He lied. We reminded him several times and he kept saying he would get around to it before he finished our driveway project, but he did not fulfill that promise! Our mistake was in assuming or at least hoping that he would.

When we first contracted Vito he told us we would pay him one time, at the very end of our project and we had to be 100% satisfied. We expected in all reality to pay him in thirds. Most of the time when Vito finished a full day's work he would come to the door and ask to be paid because 'my men need to be paid today' and Vito would say he was short on cash. One time I said, hey Vito we paid you yesterday in full to date and in cash, so we are not paying you again today too. Vito through a huge temper tantrum, yelling and swearing under his breath and saying he needed to pay 'my men'. He was so angry, unprofessional, embarrassing and rude. He did return but not until the next day and no apology.

The day they poured the cement (and although this was not Vito's fault) there was a huge thunderstorm that was not forecasted. This all happened in the middle of the pour. Long story short, the skies opened up and the crew ran around covering the cement in plastic. The rain stopped but they left the covers on that day and the next. Once plastic was removed half of the job was completely ruined and the damaged cement had to be replaced, but the other half was intact, but the remaining half that was intact and not buckled had yellow streaks throughout that remaining cement. Vito said the yellow streaks might later fade. Vito would not replace that remaining cement with the streaks unless we paid for it and it would have to be replaced in his 'free time.' Lol! We decided to leave it and hoped it would fade. It did not fade so far and because the one half did have to be replaced because of the buckling and misshape of the slabs the sections that were replaced do not line up with the slabs that were not replaced.

This job was completed in September, 2020. In February, 2021 we noticed in the area that has the yellow streaks, a crack. We called Vito and he came out and looked at it and promised he would
repair in the Spring, Spring came, and we called him, he promised he would be out, again no show. We called him in August and he promised he would have it repaired no later than October. He even scheduled in October a day he would be out, but called and said he had scheduled another job and wouldn't be able to follow up and not to worry, that it was no big deal and if and when he ever had time he would follow up but he was too busy right now. He never intended in the first place to fulfill his promise. So again, over and over and over, repeated promises and lies!

Also looking at the full project there are chips throughout the job along with the unmatched side lines and of course the yellow streaks and the crack.

If this review helps 1 person in deciding I am happy for this write up. This review is for Vito Jr.,Not Vito, Sr. Original Owner of this company was not on our job.

    Pour new driveway and patio

I wanted to use Florio Brothers to do my driveway, to stay local and patronize local businesses. My husband and I were really impressed with Vito Jr. as a sales man. He really sold us. I've had a gravel driveway 40 years and was very excited to finally be able to afford concrete. Everyday when I look at our new drive way I want to cry. Vito Jr. never made us a priority, he was always going to or coming from another job while we waited with partial work started. I guess we were just to nice, feeding his crew and supplying them beverages. The work is subpar and every time someone looks at it they point out all the areas that make me so upset. The finish work is horrible. We settled for broom finish since our drive was so big (50 cubic yards) and they stopped and started and stopped and started with the drag. It all looks really bad. We waited 10 days for him to show up to seal it and he only returned after I lost my patience with him putting me off for one more job (he left mid-day, mid job, leaving employees sitting doing nothing for hours and I had to track him down to get him back here. When he returned he was angry. He refused to power wash the drive saying it wasn't necessary. Needless to say, it was. He sealed over dirt and dust and it is there everyday to remind me. We had a stamp put in the driveway that he said would be our focal point and that was to be stained. He walked in the stain and got it everywhere. To correct that mess he used a wire brush to scrape the concrete. I only wish I could post a picture of that mess. It really turned out to be a focal point. I could go on and on about what is wrong but I don't feel I need to. Vito Jr. was arrogant and unapologetic with the mess he left for us. It has been six weeks and he never did come back to discuss it with us or try to contact us and that is why I decided to write this review. My neighbors were going to use him but after seeing our drive have decided to go elsewhere. It makes me so sad that I waited so long, only to have someone take so little pride in their work and expect me to just be happy with the job. His exact words were "you should be happy, what did you have before?" Well we had $17,000 in cash and the opportunity to go with other companies. I so wish I would have. I would not recommend Florio Brothers, Vito Jr. to do any concrete work. Sad in Parma! Update: 10 months later our drive way is crumbling.
