Buyer Beware! Unfinished Construction of Full Bathroom Remodel!

I was jilted AGAIN! I found Fodor & Sons on Thumbtack after a devastating experience with a local contractor who scammed me and my fiancé of thousands of dollars back in December 2023 (talk about bad luck!). When we first met Steven Fodor he was very professional and empathetic of our previous situation. He even stated how he hates that contractors get a bad rep because of a few bad apples. He reassured us that his company (Fodor & Sons) was not like the rest.

We liked Steven, he was well spoken, punctual and he went by the book. He efficiently went through the process of getting a permit for our bathroom remodel. Even the city inspector knew Steven and spoke highly of him. You can imagine our relief in finding a “good” contractor or so we thought.

Shortly after, things began to go awry. Steven’s subcontractor who started doing our bathroom tiling suddenly stopped working and stopped answering Steven’s calls. Steven reassured us that despite this setback he had his own W2 workers that would do the job. We trusted him.

Weeks later his workers came and started tiling. They were slow, inefficient and poorly skilled. So much so, my fiancé and I had to change our tile selection in the middle of the project because the workers were breaking them and the finishings looked terrible. We discussed with Steven about changing the tile to a smaller tile which he obliged. Unfortunately his workers didn’t do a great job with the new tile either.

After confronting Steven about our concerns with the appearance of the bathroom, he repeatedly stated that they would fix the issues. Unfortunately, that was a lie. Instead Steven had his workers remove all of their tools from our property and he simply stopped answering our calls, texts or emails. It has now been 3 weeks since we have spoken or seen Steven Fodor. We have sent demand emails and letters; unfortunately Steven refuses to respond, let alone finish the work he started.

Please be cautious if you plan to do business with Fodor & Sons. We currently have a bathroom with an open permit that is unfinished and unusable because of his abandonment.
