    Build home
    $625,000

Fortis Homes built my home and I am very pleased. I chose them because of their willingness to work with me and we seemed to have the same vision. Additionally, they do a lot of charity work and are heavily involved in the community.

First of all, they built a home that is absolutely spectacular. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is stunning. My home has increased in value (from their build cost) just under 20% in less than a year. It was recently appraised for just over $750k.

Before we even began building, we sat down for 3 sessions for about 12 hours total and went over every detail of the house. In each area, they came through with flying colors.

They always went the extra mile to do things right rather than take a shortcut. In each phase of the building process, the county inspector commented on the work they performed. During the entire build of roughly 6 months (from preparing the lot to occupancy), the inspector only gave them 1 minor gig. I also had a friend of mine (home inspector) follow up with an inspection, his one finding was that the water temperature was a little low (which was an easy fix - twist the knob on the water heater).

My home included hardwood floors and stairs, extensive tile (indoor and outdoor) , interior and exterior exposed wood beams, 8' doors, extensive stone work, etc. For such a large home with high ceilings, I am amazed how low my heating / cooling costs are (a very solid energy efficient home).

They came through with all that they mentioned and surprised me with a couple of upgrades that I was not expecting.

My home purchase process was very easy as my bank had to do an initial appraisal of the house and it was appraised for much much more than the build cost. Toward the end of my warranty period, Fortis Homes called me and asked if I had anything for them. What builder would ever do that? My list was small (nail pops, etc). They came on the coordinated date and fixed all of it.

I highly recommend them, so much so, that they are even building my son's home.

    Build our home
    $265,000

We built a custom home with Fortis Homes. We were in a position where we could not afford a home because of previous financial difficulties. Fortis Homes worked with us for nearly 2 years until we could finally build the home of our dreams on just over 2 acres.

To help cut the costs, one of the owners of the company personally did the work himself on parts of the home (adding a media room, moving walls to eliminate dead space, etc) and charged us nothing for his work. Because of how God worked through Fortis and in our own lives, so much fell into place for us to have such a beautiful home. We started with a 2500sf home and during construction, because of their flexibility and having our best interests at heart, ended up with over 3200 heated square feet with no price increase. Can you imagine having such a home with a walk out balcony on the 2d floor (that was added at no cost) with an underdeck drainage system, a fabulous 600sf bonus room, kitchen with 9' island, 14' back porch across the entire house, brick and hardie exterior, vaulted ceilings, trey ceilings in several rooms and so much more. Their interior finish work (trim, walls, cabinetry, floors, etc) was marvelous.

During the build process, they met with us periodically to ensure our selections were accurate. At these meetings, they made certain and that we were in a financially sound posture for an expeditious and detailed building of our home.

More importantly, they took very few draws and did so after lengthy periods to reduce interest payments at our end (keeping our costs down). They also worked diligently with our bank from the very beginning ensuring cost estimates, appraisals, etc would be met so that there were no hiccups during the build process - this was especially important to us due to a previous incident we had in our past.

The icing on the cake was when the county building inspector came in and walked through the home and his comment was "this is an absolutely beautiful and solidly constructed home".

    build my home

I got in on the ground floor just after the concrete was poured. Fortis Homes worked with me on so many changes. It felt like a custom home was being built soecifically for me.

I had spoken with several other builders to work with me on just a few things with their homes and they would not budge at all.

I could not believe that for the modest price I purchased the home, it came with granite throughout, crown, coffered ceilings in 2 rooms, 6" baseboards, soft close cabinets (which were dovetailed and wooden), a large island, covered back porch woth fireplace.

During the building process, they kept me in the loop of what was being done and what was about to happen just about every week.

Fortis Homes truly had their heart and soul into building my dream home. I am so very indebted to them.

    Build a home

The house came in $11,000 under appraisal. I had the appraisal appealed, and the Appraisal team came back that it was a fair appraisal and did not budge on the amount the house was valued at. The Fortis Home agent called the Appraiser and tried to sway the appraisal amount. Im pretty sure that in of itself is illegal! Beware when buying from this company!! Fortis Homes changed the doors and floors that were picked (we picked finishes outside a restaurant--by a truck--that should have been my first clue), they did not sod the back yard as promised, the "walk in pantry" had only 3 shelfs when we were promised shelfs on all three walls, and they removed almost all the trees between us and the neighbors without permission. After all that, they kept our $1000 "move up date" money and it took 17 days to get our earnest money back! Even then, we only received the money back because we asked if we needed to get an attorney. This company was a nightmare to deal with, they ruined the home we were wanting with the absolute worse floors I have ever seen. The work completed such as the shoe molding was horrible! The railing to the stairs was loose and the spindles didn't even go the banister. Horrible experience!!
