I would not recommend working with this electrician at all. At first he seemed very helpful to get my EV charger installed in my garage. I have a complex situation where my garage is detached from my house, but there is an underground conduit between my house and garage. Fred went through an inspected how everything can be done, and while most electricians don't charge for the initial inspection to give a quote, I offered to still pay him for the time, for which he said $200. This is much higher than what any other electrician has quoted me for just coming out, and most said $0. I still agreed to pay it since he did the work, but I felt taken advantage of.
Anyway, after inspecting everything, he agreed to do the work. However, I had to get a permit and permission from the HOA before proceeding. After I got this, I messaged him that I am ready for the work, to which he was slow at responding and finally said that he is in the middle of other work and can do my job in a couple weeks. I waited for him, since he did all the initial work.
Anyway, after finally a month of waiting, we got a date down for him to come out. I specifically took the day off work for it. Then, literally, a couple hours before he was supposed to come he texted saying that he can't do the work. There was no call explaining the situation and when I tried calling he rejected my call. It was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I just was left hanging and it really ruined my mood for a couple weeks.
Then on the labor day Monday, I texted him (no, not called) saying if he can refund my $200, because he won't do the work and now I would have to go through the process of getting a new electrician. His response was "I just want to share that it's a holiday and I can't believe you're bothering me on a holiday". Like okay....wait until a work day to respond.
The then next day (which is a work day), I messaged him again and even apologized for messaging him on a holiday, asking for a refund, and he kept going on about how disrespectful it was for me to be messaging him on a holiday. He also admitted that he had no remorse for how he treated me. And this is directly quoted from his text "Nonetheless it was plain rude to even contact me on the weekend. You're a grown woman this is a business I don't want your business. Deal with it. This is exactly why I don't want your business".
Overall, I would not recommend working with him. I experienced extremely unprofessional and borderline verbal abuse from this man. Luckily I managed to find another electrician who was extremely easy to deal with, actually quoted me significantly less for the same work (so looks like Fred was overcharging me anyway), and all the work went that electrician went very smoothly! So perhaps it was a blessing in disguise that I did not have to end up working with Fred.
