    Tack room remodel
    $19,000

Jim Frye took complete advantage of my inexperience and the fact that I have mot yet relocated to the property from out of state. He quoted me around $3000 to lower a door…. (which was never actually done so I’m not sure how we got to $18,000). He was originally to dry wall, lower a door frame and lay a concrete floor in a 9/12 room. He gave a quote and upon completion almost quadrupled it. I’ve since had two other contractors and an architect look at his work and they all agreed we were swindled and said it was “Highway robbery”. He told us we HAD to put a massive wood “trim” on the base of the drywall which protrudes about 4/5 inches from the wall, which I nor any of these other professionals have ever seen. This is a TINY room where that extra space is much needed. He also didn’t mention this until after they started and said it want an option not to. I would have shut down the whole operation had that actually been required. This “trim” is separating from the wall, he was supposed to lower a door/frame and was told the door would be the same size. He instead left the door at the same height, put a shoddy piece of scrap on the bottom and said he would come back to finish it later when it could have all been done at once. He said we could dye the concrete after it dried, I have been informed that the dye needed to be mixed in with the concrete. I wanted a polished concrete floor, he tried to tell me it was “basically” what I wanted. We haven’t heard from him since and the room looks terrible.

He refused to acknowledge that my employee and I were two separate people. For the unfortunate time we worked with him I had to state several times every phone call that I was not in fact my employee. Every text I had to do the same and he still called me by her name even after being corrected. He always pushed his taste in a superior way and would push these things with my employee like he should just go ahead with it and then when corrected by me I would hear nothing else about it.

His secretary demanded payment immediately even though the whole property is under construction and neither me or my father had had an opportunity to check the work. Unfortunately we payed the bill, even though it was literally 70% over what was initially estimated and all that was done was laying concrete, putting up drywall and installing lights ( he pushed us to install) in a 6x12 room.
This man was one of the worst things to happen to me this year.

At least find someone who will actually do a good job if they’re going to do if they’re going to shake down your bank account.

Also according to this site his license is inactive?
