Future Building of America

Future Building of America Co, based in Farrell, Pennsylvania, manufactures structural insulated panels—also known as stress skin panels—for residential and light commercial construction. Originally founded as Panel Building Systems in 1982 and renamed in 1990, the company produces wall and roof panels comprising oriented strand board (OSB) skins laminated to a rigid expanded polystyrene core. This method integrates framing, sheathing, and insulation in one step, allowing builders to enclose structures much faster than with conventional construction. FBA’s certified panels, evaluated by PFS Laboratories in Madison, Wisconsin, are shown to be over twice as strong as typical framing and can span up to 16 feet without additional support, making them suitable for applications such as cathedral ceilings and churches. Their panels achieve R-values up to R-38 and can reduce heating and cooling costs substantially through improved insulation and minimized air infiltration.
