Hired Mike to do the cabinets for our kitchen remodel. Would not hire again or recommend.
At first he constantly was freaking out when something didn’t go exactly right, but eventually figured out for himself. We still liked him and thought it to be a benign part of his personality. Toward the end, it got worse. Mike went off on me for half an hour on the phone near the end of this ordeal, and even started yelling at my wife and I in our house.
After we got started, Mike informed us about his other unrelated gig which would be taking up substantial amounts of his time. It would limit the time he could spend on our job. That came as a shock. After that he would show up sporadically and not complete the work he said he would do.
Mike started complaining bitterly because we got Covid which caused a delay, and then another of the trades got Covid causing another delay. He wasn’t getting his own stuff done, though, which contributed to the delay. But throughout he constantly complained about his compressed schedule because of his other gig.
The actual work that Mike did is mostly good, The reason for two stars and not one. The work done by another cabinet guy he brought was excellent, and with no whining or drama.
Mike also put the vent hole for our range hood in the wrong place and we are still trying to get that figured out. He is blaming us! For the rough-in inspection by the city, the inspector said certain specifications would have to be met for the hood. Mike just freaked out about that and said he’s walking away from the hood installation, so get someone else. So we have a hole in the wall and are still trying to figure it out.
For good measure, no pun intended, Mike missed a measurement and we ended up having to spend an extra $350 on another cabinet. We now have one we can’t use.
Finally, he left all sorts of scraps and debris in our garage for us to clean up. Other trades have cleaned up after themselves, but not Mike. I don’t know if that’s how he treats his other customers. Seems like a parting shot to us from Mike.
