Brought in for estimate of work. Was intending to hire to do work and use a deal we found in Angie's List for $400 for an electrician for a day which is supposedly something like $500 off labor of like $900. When they came out for the estimate, we were given an $1150 estimate for our work needed, and then they refused to honor the Angie's list deal with the explanation that it's only valid for "simple around the house" tasks and this is more complicated. This is not stated anywhere in the terms and conditions of the deal. Our job meets all terms stated in the deal. That is an extremely dishonest tactic and sounds like an arbitrary way to avoid honoring the very deals that bring attention to their company in the first place. Definite bait and switch. Even if their estimate was in line or lower than others we received (which it was not), we would still not use them. They were a waste of time in a time sensitive project.

G-REN Electrical Inc (owned by Roee) is an excellent and very reasonably priced electrical contractor. Our goal was to update the wiring and other electrical units for a 1941 house which had not been updated to any extent. We were advised to get several estimates, but doing so proved very confusing because each contractor made quite different statements of what should be done. Many of the contractors made blanket statements or were quite vague in declaring what they would include, which sets you up for “extras” becoming high cost later changes. We ended talking to about 6 contractors recommended by friends, realtors, Yelp, and Angie’s List before the trade-offs and cost of what we wanted just started to become clear. We then did what we had avoided, which was to sit down and write up our own detailed list of exactly what we wanted and where. We gave the list to each of the contractors and this really clarified the game being played. Roee (found on Angie’s List) was clearly the superior in terms of price, flexibility, and just being easy to do business with. He was especially helpful in deciding what devices to choose and where to place them (sockets, multi/switches, lights, fans, etc.). His charges for add-on extras were moderate and he did not even charge for a few outlets that he added or moved. He would definitely be our recommendation if you had similar work to be done.
