I’m sharing this review because if you are like me, you read every review before hiring someone and I believe that it is important as an individual looking to hire a contractor to have the full spectrum of what it is really like working with that person (or people). Please make sure to do all of your due diligence when hiring someone as this can be a stressful situation but it does not have to be. Also, every project is different and I’m happy to be able to have this forum to share my personal opinion and experience.
I have done several projects in the past working in the real estate development industry for years. I do not recommend working with this contractor and am pretty surprised to see so many positive reviews here (although most of them only do have 1 review so that makes some sense). There were massive delays during my project, it took way longer than promised. The finishing work was heavily lacking in attention to detail. There were issues that were left open, we wound up having to hire someone else to fix the remaining issues. Additionally, an individual name Avi, who was the main point of contact, seems to take things very personally, so tread lightly there. He also completely does not take responsibility for things that were 100% in the company’s control and I’m sure that will apply to this review as well. Regardless, hopefully this will help at least one person avoid the stress of working with this company. There was a lot of employee turnover during the course of the project and thus delays along with massive communication failures that piled onto one heap of a disaster.
In my personal experience with multiple projects, this is not how a contractor works. Contractors generally adhere to a schedule and if not, it is not a delay of almost a year on multiple issues. The communication was just a complete failure. It was like chickens running around without a head, nobody knows what is going on half the time and unless you are on top of everything yourself, things will just sit for weeks at a time (the only thing that they are on top of is asking for payment). Some of the guys that came in to do the work were clearly and openly unhappy about working with this company and it’s obvious in the fact that some of them actually worked for about 1-2 hours, took 2-3-hour lunches and then left. It obviously comes from the top. Don’t get me the wrong, the beginning of the project was great and some of the work was good quality, and then things just took a harsh turn for the atrocious. I feel bad for the employees that I did work with because some of them were very nice and I’m sure that working for an employer who cares so little about paying clients speaks volumes about how the employees are treated. In hindsight, this explains the turnover.
If you can afford to be a full-time project manager to ensure that this contractor is doing the job, then go with Gallery. If you want to work with someone that will be professional, I would check out some other options.
