We saw red flags with these guys from the start, and should have pulled the plug early and gone with another, more reputable roofer. Vince never bothered to confirm what kind of sheathing the roof had when he gave us a quote, but we trusted his "40 years of experience" which was our mistake. Once his crew started, he essentially blackmailed us, saying he needed to resheath the entire roof, which would cost more money, or he would pull his crew off, leaving us with gaping holes in our roof. After that, his crew went to town, leaving huge messes all over the yard. Old shingles and nails were everywhere, and we are still, six years later, picking up nails and heavy staples. The condensation piping for the AC was run wrong (confirmed by the HVAC company and another roofer) and it took Vince several weeks and two attempts to get it “corrected”. It is still not true. When a runoff problem occured, it took Vince five weeks to finally come out and look at it. He didn't even go up on the roof. He just handwaved at some debris and claimed that was the problem (HVAC and another roofer confirm that isn't the issue). In the last three months, a new leak appeared in the ceiling of our 9 year old’s bedroom. It took six weeks of calling to get a return call and schedule an appointment. The first thig Vince told us when he arrived is that we’re out of warranty for his work on the job, even though a "tune-up" was built into the contract. He immediately claimed there’s nothing wrong with the roof, but if we wait for the next rainstorm, he’ll come back and check it then. Insurance gave us a quote for the interior, but Vince told us to “just spray paint it”—because nothing says quality work like letting the ceiling collapse on your child to save a few bucks. Three other roofers and the insurance company have checked and said there are problems with the flashing, and that’s definitely where the leak is. It's such a shame that Vince Gardner doesn't stand behind his work, or work with his clients to resolve issues. We will definitely never use Vince Gardner Roofing again and we urge you to move on and find a reputable roofer with good customer service.
