I live in The Renaissance condo community in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte. I am an original owner, picked my finishes, waited to move in, everything. Immediately after moving in, I noticed water intrusion. Gateway said the HOA had to fix it, the HOA said Gateway had to fix it. I find that my warranty (which I should have reviewed better) only covers the place if condemned, and only for a year. We all agreed to not sue, just arbitration. Which is, apparently, not binding. The entire community has water issues, some so severe the insides have caved in. And we've been to arbitration and gotten nowhere. Our homes are difficult to sell, because only portfolio mortgages are allowed. I can tell detailed stories of things gone wrong inside, but, hey, black mold and cave ins and the inability to sell your home seem to be enough. Don't do it.
