I share a very steep driveway with five other neighbors. We all met and agreed that our drive way must be re-paved. I was asked if I would be willing to find a paving contractor and get some bids., so I got three bids from three different paving contractors. Each person I spoke with appeared to be sales-reps and not fully informed. When they couldn’t answer my questions satisfactorily, I decided to get one more bid and called Gateway Paving. Jeff Golobe met me at the agreed time. Turned out Jeff was the owner of Gateway and was very informed with the paving process. He proposed various options and explained the pros and cons for each option and then said he would give me a bid for each one the following day. He also gave me some references for some previous jobs. I also decided to call the two asphalt companies in the area where I assumed he would have to purchase the asphalt from. The first one I called said that they had a good working relationship with them. The second company said “Gateway? Oh the Golobes. It’s a three-generation family operation. They’ve been around a long time. They’re good guys and know what they’re doing. Can’t go wrong with them.”
So, when Jeff returned with his bids, I felt confident about him. He started the job the day he said he would. When they ran into some unexpected problems removing the old road bed, they never complained, they just went ahead and got the job done.
When it came time to repave the parking lot for my apartment buildings I didn’t hesitate to contract the job with them also. They did a great job and I’m very happy to have worked with them. F.P.
