    Public adjuster..look at roof

    My insurance company lousey cheap Zurich..gave us 1089.00 to fix ice dam in front hall..I told them that was ridiculous..1000..was our deductible..they said they would send out Ron to look at the roof from Air Care..he came took several measurements..which was great he was very nice.. he suggested Gavin Miles (public adjuster)could possibly fight for more money..Gavin did resubmit claim and we did receive 3845..I wanted to save money and try to work to get the rest..he told me he needed a copy of the check and that I should cash it..and that there should be more coming ..he’s still “working on it”..few weeks later we had noticed another small leak on our flat roof..called to ask if this gets added as well..he said “send pics”..never heard from him again despite so many attempts since Nov 2021..it is now June 2022 and to this day he has not retuned anymore calls or messages..and now we get notice a month ago that our insurance is cancelling and they mention “the flat roof is leaking” so we can’t cover you..he’s the only one that knew and it was small..Zurich knew about any issues and still covered us..now it’s a problem..I think he pulled some type of scam on us..he said he wouldn’t charge us...I think that he actually works for Zurich or something..why else wouldn’t he continue to help me…funny our insurance gets cancelled no problem with ice dam..but nothing on the ice dam damage...I think he reported the flat roof leak in addition to the other stuff..and now we’ll be cancelled July 1 with no way to get another insurance due to credit being too low..I would never work with them ..again..very nice but this was not good.

    I would never recommend Gavin Miles, he agreed to renovate our kitchen after ice dam damage, February 2015. Gave us a quote, dealt with the insurance company. When it was time to purchase our new cabinets we gave him a check from the mortgage/ins company and he left on vacation. We couldn't purchase the cabinets until he returned. He took on a " big job in Vermont", didn't return text messages, VM for days and weeks at a time. We then had a leak in our roof from the same ice damage. He came out and put up a tarp(that my husband purchased), then sent a bill to us for $500. We had to demolish the kitchen ourselves and lived with a hot plate and microwave for several months. After multiple calls, he finally had another contractor come out and put in the cabinets, the floor company came out after several more weeks. The plumber came out and put in the wrong plumbing. The second contractor contacted another plumber who came out the day before Thanksgiving to fix the problem. So we're now 9 months into the job. Electricians came in and wired everything. Countertops put in after we went to Bridgewater and picked out what we liked, Gavin said" pick out the least expensive". Now for the roof, had to have a new one, the second contractor that Gavin hired(who was wonderful) put on a new roof in two days and did a great job. We had to have the floor company come back to put final coat on hardwood floors. Gavin had told us he would pay the cost! Imagine our surprise we had to pay. Now the final contact with Gavin. He came to our house to "go over the numbers" "I'm not making any money on this job, I'm done" he refused to finish the job. No backsplash, no reframing the windows and entry way, the baseboards that were damaged were not replaced, ceiling and walls not painted. He refused to finish the job!! He is unreliable, unethical and a bad example of a contractor. It's now March 2016 and our kitchen is not done. Gavin should be ashamed of himself, but I think he is to narcissistic to care! Beware consumers! He's not how he presents!
