We entered into contract with George Cooke, owner of GC’s contracting in Holmes Pa. to start a complete home Reno project work Jun 21. For the 1st month things were going smoothly. Then we noticed work being stalled. We had to constantly constantly stay on top of George to get bits and pieces of our project finished. By Nov 1, 21, project is 50% finished, George renegotiated our contract to be completed by Nov 21, 2021. He claimed his project manager Byron, was the reason behind the delays and he had to fire him. (Byron told a different story when asked) He gave us a pay off early discount of 14k. For our “inconvenience” We were kind of skeptical about it as things weren’t totally going fine. However, we made the decision to still move forward. Trusting George Cooke wouldn’t run off with our money. Nov 21 came and went and our project was still stalled. No real responses from George a bunch of bs excuses. Finally on 12/14/21 we officially fired George as our contractor. I have text messages and photos as proof of our exchanges. I’ve included a few below and there’s plenty more. I’ve also contacted NBC investigators regarding this. I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend George Coooke Construction/ Contracting. He is a scammer. Also, another one of his clients came to my project months after we fired him, looking for George saying George ran off with his money too. He was offered the same “early pay” discount. But refused it as George had already taken a hefty deposit and did next to no work. George has a special worker named Corey. He’s George’s yes man. Don’t trust him either. It’s taken me this long to expose this shady contractor, George Cooke, because we were busy finishing our project. Since our project has now been completed, almost an entire year later, I have time to talk about the ordeal and expose bad business people. The township of where our project is located is also aware of George’s business dealing. His addresses listed are 102 Holmes Rd Holmes Pa 19043 and 700 spruce St Darby Pa 19023

By Adrienne M.June 4, 2019Replace roof$2,500
I was referred to this contractor by Joey Funari from Funari Public Adjusters in April 2018. I contacted Funari to see if they could help me with my roofing problem and after he advised that it wouldn't benefit me to file a claim with my insurance company, he then recommended George Cook. He said he did great work for a reasonable price and that he uses him for any work he needs done in his home. Based off of that recommendation, I contacted George Cook. Big Mistake! While George was friendly enough when he took my money, he never really completed the job. After installing my roof, he advised me to call him back in 3 months so he can lay the silver coating, I contacted him and he gave me excuse after excuse, after excuse and has yet to complete the job. Furthermore, my roof is STILL leaking and appears to now be leaking in places where it wasn't before. I am beyond angry! DO NOT USE THIS PERSON FOR ANY WORK ON YOUR PROPERTY! I have intentions to sue as soon as I get a good address for him, the address listed above according to the BBB is not valid for him.

I called this crappy service to do my roof paid him over 2000 dollars to redo my porch roof which still leaks months afterwards. Doesn't stand by his warranty doesn't answer the phone when being called I called him from 5 different phone numbers because he was avoiding my calls the worst service ever he's a great failure at his handy man business. Find a contractor with a great reputation with the BBB this Contractor has absolutely non not worth the time or money, don't waste your money.

I had a terrible experience with a contractor. GC's contacting. The owner, George Cook, came to my home and said that he could repair my staircase and replace the old banisters. He was very nice but completely incompetent from the beginning. It rapidly became clear that he had no idea how to do the job and was not at all skilled at woodworking. I eventually had to tell him to stop working on the stairs altogether . Then, he went to install the banisters crooked--I had to tell him how to place the banisters so that they were parallel to the stairs. And now, less than 3 months later, the banisters are pulling out of the wall. I had to bring in a true professional and spent $5k to tear out all his poor quality work and do it the right way.

George Cook did several jobs at my home, my porch roof (which I had to have return to correct) then he replaced my roof on my sunroom, that wasn't too bad, but I wanted to replace my storm door. I paid in advance (big mistake) that was back in Nov 2023. It is now January, 2025 and no door or money refund. I also had two bathrooms changed from runs to stand up showers. Every thing went smooth until the second bathroom was almost complete. The work came to a stop, waiting for side door and the shower doors, constant text messages and calls telling me that he would be Wednesday or Friday (he didn't say what year)....needless to say I haven't heard from him since November 2024. I went to Lowe's at Christmas time and ordered a storm door and it was installed in 3 days....imagine that. So now I am out of money to install the shower doors (curtains it is). What happened to respecting senior citizens.
