When we first hired GD carpentry, things were going well. However there was issues with providing us quotes, providing receipts when we would pay them. Mid way through our project, the owner, verbally 'let us know' he was increasing his hourly rate. Being naive, we agreed. There were comments made when we had requests or questions, such as " this isn't my first rodeo" when we asked him to use cardboard to walk on our new hardwood floors. We had another person working on installing our bay window, and when the owner of Gd carpentry came in, his comment was 'that your new lover?'
When we would give cash payments and ask for a receipt, there was always an issue. Fast forward to the end, we had glue left all over our white cabinets, finishing nails not covered and sticking out, moldings not put in place right so they always move..list goes on. We were awaiting our addition to be finished. And because that carpenter was installing the stove top, we had gotten permission from gd carpentry to allow him to skirt the bottom of that island. Months later, gd carpentry demanded we owed him money. We asked what the charge was for and could we have an invoice. He became irate and threatened to come to our house and pull the cabinets off the walls, threatened to put a lien on our house etc. I had been writing out the check and after the yelling at us, we thought how can this be? How can this person not give a proper invoice, then yell at us? Don't hire this person, he isn't reliable, shows up when he wants, brings whoever he wants to the job site without asking and then makes snide remarks if you change your mind, have a question or ask for an explanation etc...just a headache
