Zero-Star - DO NOT PAY A DIME IN ADVANCE!!!!!! Read his contract in its entirely, it is written to take advantage of the customer. Howard Gainer, GemServ International, was hired to complete an electrical rough-in and electrical finish for our residential basement, He required and was paid 50% of the total job in advance, to complete electrical rough-in. Howard did not complete rough-in nor was it done to code.
All of Howard's work must be completely re-done at our cost. Work not done to NEC Code: • Howard used the standard breakers instead of Arc Fault breakers, that were not up to National Electrical Code. These breakers cannot be used. See: Arch Fault Breaker Code – page 63. Section 210.12, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code 2017 edition. • Howard installed 40 standard receptacles, where tamper resistant receptacles are required by NEC code. See: Tamper Resistant Receptacles Code – page 264. Section 406.12, NFPA 70, National Electrical Code 2017 edition. Unprofessional Conduct:
Howard demonstrated unprofessional conduct.
On the day he walked off of the job, we had a conversation regarding the contract and Howard demonstrated the following behavior: + Howard raised his voice on several occasion, to the point where I had to suggest that he lower his tone, in order to maintain a professional manner. + Howard used a racial slur during our interaction. + Howard threatened and used bullying tactics. Stating that he refused to finish the job in its entirety and that I needed him at this point, he does not need me (hence, he was already paid in advance). + Howard walked off the job and refused to do any more work.
Howard is unprofessional, malicious and unethical. We do not want other home owners to encounter or have to deal with someone like this. We have had a terrible experience with Howard Gainer.
