My project was to do some remedial foundation work and seismic upgrades to protect the soft story above my garage. GenTech had been referred to me by the engineer who did the inspections when I was in escrow, so they were one of the first companies to provide an estimate for the work. The cost of the project rose by about $4K from my initial expectations once they dug into the engineer's plans, but I wasn't overly surprised by that.
The project was initially expected to take about 6 weeks, but ended up taking nearly 12 weeks. GenTech is a busy contractor so sometimes my crew was pulled in for another job, but I also think that given the scope of the work being done at my house, I think 6 weeks was probably an inaccurate initial estimate.
The foreman and crew for my project were really nice. They were responsive when problems arose and were courteous to me. They did their best to keep the mess to a minimum.
I know GenTech isn't the cheapest out there, but I felt that my house and safety were in good hands with them. The previous owners of the house had gone the quick, cheap, and dirty path in replacing the foundation, and it cost me time and money to fix some of the problems that a bad contractor caused or neglected. So all in all, I would recommend GenTech, but be prepared to get in a queue to get the work done!
