We hired this contractor who abandoned the job and failed to return our money. In addition to breaching the contract we signed, the work that was performed was both terrible and not completed. I have had to retain legal counsel in order to get my money back.

I hired this company to do a complete remodel on our home. The owner was very helpful and knowledgable. The job was on time and budget . The crew was very clean and the work was outstanding. Genbuild did everything according to the scope we provided and did everything on our punch list. one of the employees Leo was always a happy guy to be around . This company has the experience to make your project happen as it should.

I found Genbuild from their ad in the Albuquerque Journal. I checked them on line and at that time, found no negative reviews. I asked for references and was given the addresses of two of their current jobs by the contractor himself, Miguel Garcia. I checked the jobs and all seemed ok. So on the 12th December, 2016, I signed a contract for the construction of my building. Fast forward to 3/31/2017: I have the shell of a building and a slab but no windows, no doors, no stucco. And Genbuild? They have disappeared with all but the final payment, which was due on completion.
The quality of the work is acceptable. The progress was extremely slow and was rarely completed by the various dates that were promised for the different stages.
My last contact with Miguel Garcia was via a text message from his business phone (505-401-1088). In that message he stated that the windows and lath would be installed the next week. Since then, despite multiple attempts to contact Miguel Garcia by calling and texting, I have had no response.
Since it is now almost a month since the last contact with him, I can only assume that he has stolen my money and does not intend to complete my building.
Now, of course I will pursue legal action but in the meantime, the most important thing is to ensure that no-one else is caught up in Genbuild's dishonest business practices. Since this has now occurred twice in recent weeks, I suggest that anyone considering hiring Genbuild or Miguel Garcia either find an honest contractor or require a performance bond to safeguard themselves against payment and non-completion.
I note that Miguel Garcia has accused the previous complainant of lying and I fully expect him to do the same here. I would suggest that the chances of two people lying and making up stories about Genbuild/Miguel Garcia are very low. In addition, I am more than happy to share all my documentation and records with anyone who is considering hiring Genbuild and will happily show the unfinished building as well. I will aslo discuss this with anyone who is considering hiring this contractor. Feel free to contact me initially at [email protected]
Beware! It is going to cost around $9,000 to finish my building to original specifications with only a single $3000 payment still due to the contractor. Don't let this happen to you.
