We were moving to Texas from out of state and after numerous trips to the Dallas area we found a great builder George Welch Custom Homes. The quality of the GW homes stood out and using a builder with George's pedigree proved to make the move effortless. Building a home from 1200 miles away could have been a daunting task but George and Stephanie along with thier on site supervisor Darrin made it a walk in the park. All the subs were responsive and pleasant to work with. Having unlimitted access to Setphanie and Darrin as well as any of the subs-contractors produced a home we just love. Darrin hands on involvment with dedication to detail helped us enormously. I would highly reccomend George Welch and if we should build again we would definitly use GW Custom Homes!!!

I overall the design and structural build of our house is great. Everything outside of that it was miserable working with their incompetent project supervisor. As mentioned above it was a huge mistake although we did get a good price. I guess you get what you pay for but a custom home at $800k means you have expectations that you won’t be the only one supervising the cheap labor and that you won’t have to make them come back multiple times to fix something. After spending 180+ hours sitting in an empty house supervising subs and coordinating their work and you still get nickeled and dimed up til the very end. No thanks. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. Oh and we never say “George after we signed the original contract. Never!

Nothing but good things to say about George Welch Custom Homes! This was our first time purchasing a custom home. As expected, we were somewhat hesitant and nervous about the whole process. These feelings were quickly put at ease with the help of George Welch’s team. It was a very seamless process. With so many decisions to make, in what seemed like such little time, we enjoyed every minute of it. Of course, we wanted everything to be perfect and George did NOT disappoint! We were guided all the way through. When we could not decide on a certain color, stain, pattern etc. suggestions were made, and we are forever grateful because our home is beautiful and just what we always envisioned. George was very attentive and present throughout the build. Any questions we had or changes we requested were addressed promptly. We never felt pressured or uneasy regarding the contract. This was very important to us because we were first time home buyers and heard horror stories from others who were not so fortunate. We will, without a doubt, choose George Welch to build our next home if we ever decide to leave the dream home he built us.

I found George Welch Homes to be neither “shady” or “half ass”...in fact, given the number of homes he has built over the years, and, after talking to many people with whom he has worked, I decided to have him build my home. I found him to be truthful, responsive, and honest. If I had an issue or a question directed to him, he was prompt and directly answered my questions. We had plenty of help with selections with his wife and business partner Stephanie. Any problem we had, George made it right. Any request we had involving a change or “upgrade”, the cost of that that was communicated and we were given the option. If one is in a profession dealing with wants and desires of people, I suppose regardless of how hard you try, some people can never be pleased. I cannot speak to problems I have read here, but I can say My experience was totally different. I suspect, given the number of projects George has done and the repeat customers he has, the experiences of a few do not reflect the experiences of everyone. If I build again, George will build my house.

From the first 2x4 to the final walkthrough the project was a total nightmare! After interviewing a handful of builders and decided to go with George Welch was the absolute worst decision I could of made.
You will always know when the so called project manager is lying to you because you will see his lips moving.
Half assed contractors cutting corners, mismeasured trim, no project oversight or help in any way. You are on your own friends with this builder. From start to finish, no communication from builder or builders PM unless they needed a decision at that very moment. You will not have guidance for making selections on materials, they will recommend Lowe’s for that, no showroom for cabinet selections, door selectios, paint colors, flooring selections, etc. you will be investing a lot of time running around and getting samples and potential products for your home. Your better have a pile of money stuck to the side because everything you may ask of them will be considered an upgrade/change order to put more money in their pockets. You are pushed to make rush decisions with no support or guidance. When I read the first review here it is exactly what we went through. It would of been much easier if I was told up front of what my home would of actually cost instead of the misleading tactics this builders business model. Never again! -

My wife and I built our home with George Welch Homes going on two years ago now. It was one of the most stressful times of our lives. We actually hired our own private inspector to oversee the project so we could have an unbiased set of eyes on it for the entire process. He was worth every penny. The first thing he caught was wall studs not placed the per code spacing in the walls. There were probably 15 or more studs that were spaced further apart. Oh, its not like they mismeasured. The marks were there (I saw them), they just didn't put the studs over the marks. As we were to experience later, it was obviously just a way to cut corners and save money. From there, the entire project was an attempt to cut corners and nickel and dime the entire project to save as much money as possible. The most egregious violation was when they contacted our architect without us knowing and had him remove our beautiful front cast stone walls and steps. We were also having other things changed at that time so when the plans came back, we looked for only the things we wanted changed and signed off on the new plans. Never in a million years did we expect a supposed reputable company to change something so sneakily. We happened to notice it soon after on the plans and threatened to sue for fraud if they didn't put it what we had already signed for and paid for in the originally quote and contract. And of course, nobody knew how that happened and nobody claimed responsibility. All the while telling us that they weren't "shady" and how many awards they had won over the years. I don't have the space or time to list every issue we had with them through the entire process. In fact, its now two years after the build and we are STILL trying to get them to repair foot prints in our concrete walkway up to our front door that was put there by one of their contractors. Someone obviously walked on the concrete when it was still wet and now we have permanent prints walking to our home. The prints are too small for my feet and too big for my wife or kids feet. When I told the project manager about it, his response was "they'll wear off eventually". The other notable quote form the project manager's mouth when we found an issue during the build was "well no house is built perfect". And supposedly, we were told these people are the GOOD builders.
God help anyone building a home if Welch Homes LLC are the GOOD builders. To be fair, our house does look great , other than the prints going to the house and the cracked concrete at the curb. But im sure another builder could have done just as good a job for less money and less stress/headache. So when we build again, we wont be using this "shady" company.

When we decided to build our new home we looked at dozens of properties and spoke with several builders. We chose George Welch Custom Homes for the quality of his builds. Let me just say every custom home has its challenges and ours was no exception — especially since we were building in the middle of a pandemic and the industry was littered with supply chain disruptions. However, the true mark of exceptionalism is not determined by the difficulties you encounter but by the success with which you overcome them. The George Welch team proved to be exceptional. Their project manager Darren possesses a calm agreeable manner which is much appreciated when trying to make a million micro decisions. He was professional, always available to answer questions, and attentive to our concerns. We would absolutely build with them again.
