Ok not only does his answer get a little personal but it's completely hilarious.
First off the roof was never approved who would say oh that's ok justin go ahead and put the wrong color shingles on my house lol. The fact is when the color difference was questioned justin's answer was "My dad had issues with the brand of shingles you had, and i refuse to use them ". Like why wouldn't he at least mention that before he started installing them. Next he was asked to put ice and water shield between the old and new construction he agreed and said yes he would, as i pulled into my driveway and looked at the incomplete roof he hadn't put in any ice shield where we discussed! The reason for this as he told me is he ran out and didn't want to go get more. I later found out from one of his workers he never even told them to do it. All they did was shove some of the flashing they tore off the old roof down the crack and put tape over it. Oh and did I mention the first time it rained it leaked all over the place!
So I was forced to call the inspector because I knew from experience the code book justin mentioned is an international code book and does not account for local codes and regulations. So the inspector told him he needs to fix it justin did not do it out of the kindness of his heart. I could go on and on about the roof alone but I will move on.
Next on to the "engineering " issues, the only issue that came up was the roofline originally i had told him to drop the roof 12" under the old roof because it would be easier to install, but justin assured me that it would be better if they just connected with the old roof to keep with the look of the house. Imagine my surprise when he asked me if he could build up over the existing roof because he couldn't get the new roof beams to match up with the old! this option would cause maintenance issues for the life of the house so my answer was, no make it work the way you wanted or go back to what I originally mentioned. Somehow he matched the original roof I'm afraid to look and see how he did it hopefully it's safe!
Next as far as the "crucial decisions" everything was pretty much spelled out for justin during the construction but when a contractor doesn't relay the information to his workers things have to be done two and sometimes even three times to finally get it done right. Justin was barely even on site after a few weeks we asked him what his normal work days were his answer was 8 hours let me tell you him and his guys were never here for more than 4 or 5 hours, both his workers had commitments that they had to leave early justin knew that he just wanted to tell us anything to keep the money coming. Justin would continually make promises to be at the house and working with his guys i don't think I saw him work more than two or three days during the project. He would even show up on days he would get money and act like he was gonna work but as soon as we turned our backs he was gone!
Now as far as any freebies we never saw anything and I'm sure getting his work repaired over the next few years will cost double anything he thinks he gave us.
Now onto the deck that has been built exactly as we wanted and passed inspection with no issues. But we did have a great laugh with the inspector talking about justin lol.
Next to the final payment, our contract that he was never going to finish had a final payment of 1000 dollars upon completion once again he did not complete the project so we negotiated an amount that was more appropriate for a contractor of his level.
The sliding door lets see his fix for our brand new sliding door was to put a washer in the latch as a spacer and that didn't even work, that's because the door was not installed properly and the frame was left crooked so it couldn't lock. And since we're talking sliding door issues the other slider he installed was put in upside down!
I'm sure justin does feel like he was disrespected for i have absolutely no respect for him at all. And neither do people who work wi
And now for bringing up the issue with our realtor i would not have ever mentioned this fact but justin's brother told me he wished he could have warned me about justin's work before we hired him but he was hoping justin had gotten his business together better than he had in the past, and that's as nice as i can rephrase his statement as possible. And he was using his brothers building license at the time which i was told was the last time.
I have so many pictures of his awful work it could fill a book, and I find new things he screwed up all the time!
This all is just the tip of the iceberg with justin's issues if it weren't for the fact our house was torn apart and I couldn't get anyone here in less than 3 months he would have been out on his ass!
I really wish I could put pictures on here maybe if justin wants to discuss anything further i will find a place to publish them.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM JUSTIN!!!! -
By KatOctober 23, 20192-story addition$58,000
Justin talked a good game. His guys were great. He responded quickly to any question or concern.
However, he rarely showed up, except when looking to pick up a check. His communication with his guys was terrible. They often had to leave early and stop work because Justin hadn’t gotten them the materials yet, or not enough, or just didn’t show up to direct them. The new roof on the addition was done wrong, and not according to code or contract. Before the drywall was even installed, the new roof leaked in 4 places and he had the wrong shingles on there. He refused to redo it correctly, until the town inspector got involved and made him. Our “2-month” project lasted almost 6. And he dropped the last part of the contracted project entirely.
To top it off, one of the sliders he installed will not lock. He assured me he’d call the company and fix it. Now that he’s getting no more money, he ignores my attempts to contact him. Be very careful trusting him, he told us several lies along the way. I’d strongly suggest you find a different contractor.Response from Gilardi Construction January 10, 2020Sadly this review is not very accurate. The roof was done to code, I even showed them the exact requirements in the code book. The roof shingles were initially of a slightly different color then the original which they approved when 1/4 of the roof was complete, then when it was 100% complete they decided they didn’t approve anymore - we removed and replaced the shingles to a color of their liking at zero cost to the customer. While the project did run over schedule this was largely due to engineering issues needing to be resolved prior to the commencement of work, and an inability on the customers part to make crucial decisions throughout the process. We provided well over $1,500 worth of “freebies” to this customer which they were clearly unappreciative of. At the end of the project they wanted me to build a second story deck in a manner that violated building code and was unsafe; which I refused to due. As well they failed to make final payment for work completed underpaying their final bill by thousands. Even after that their sliding door issue was resolved. This customers real estate agent actually quit on them because they were so rude and disrespectful; I experienced the same treatment, clearly I should have heeded their agents warning.

I absolutely would never recommend Justin to even build a doghouse. We hired Justin as a “professional cabinet maker” I will
Keep this brief and as succinct as possible. Justin did not adhere to the promised timeline. Justin’s workmanship is garbage. He claimed to paint and poly cabinets and they were so bad that the materials he used were peeling off before the job was even done. So many mistakes with measuring.Never hung cabinet doors. We paid him for so much more than he did. When he asked for a final payment, we refused until work was corrected and finished. He told us he would not be back and walked off the job. The cabinets were so bad we had to have them Ripped out and hired another contractor to do the job. So we ended up paying for two kitchens!!!
This guy can’t be trusted. Poor Workmanship. Never on the job. Totally unreliable. And could not perform the simplest of tasks with mathematical accuracy. He was paid so much more money than he was due. There is so much more I could say….all negative.
