My former contractor who I loved retired and I was given a referral to Greig of GNGC builders. He is even better than my previous contractor. Honest, reliable, probably not the most inexpensive but definitely worth it. He comes in on time and on budget. He stands by his work. I had a deck rebuilt and it is a work of art. Many design and construction details I did not have on my previous deck such as bumpers to separate the deck from the house so water drains and reduces the chance of dry rot. No fasteners visible at all. Rail ends curved to prevent splitting. Perfect joints and alignment. His carpenter is near cabinet level skill in his precision and fastidious attention to detail. When during the pandemic they had trouble sourcing redwood, some boards were not seasoned enough and started seeping sap through the deck stain. Greig removed all the defective lumber, bought new redwood and personally aged it in his house, then replaced the boards and re-stained at no additional cost. I have never been hassled by mechanic's liens by unpaid subs, had problems that were not addressed promptly and well. He very easy to work with, communicates well, keeps commitments. I hope to use him for the rest of my life since he's younger than I am and won't retire on me! Deck was done 7/21/22. Recent work was revamping my kitchen cabinetry and oak paneled DR entry to the kitchen for installation of a new fridge completed 2/27/23. Everything done perfectly.
