With over two decades of experience in both residential and light commercial projects, our company is dedicated to delivering high-quality construction services in Midcoast Maine.
Gnome Construction is led by owner and craftsman Dana, who draws on his experience as a Design Build Manager for a Portland, Oregon-based firm managing projects that range from construction of a luxury LEED Platinum certified residence and a Passive House residence to a Living Building Challenge winery. We specialize in new construction and remodels, ensuring that every project is a collaborative effort with our clients and design teams. Our portfolio includes the headquarters for both True South Solar and Home Power Magazine as well as collaborative projects with local food cooperatives and working side-by-side instructing homeowners involved in construction of their own energy efficient affordable housing communities. Credited more than once with "turning our project around", Dana has extensive experience and knowledge of building methods and all building codes. And is also a US Certified Passive House Builder. In his spare time, you’ll find Dana spending time outdoors, throwing discs (he's a card-carrying Professional Disc Golf Association member), and enjoying outdoor music festivals with his wife of twenty years.

Gnome Construction Employees
Gnome Construction built an ADU and remodeled a studio for me last year. It was my first major construction project and I was nervous given all the bad things I hear about contractors. Working with Dana was fabulous. He broke down all the costs and phases of the project. He came in on budget and time. He is a great communicator and was professional and fun to be around. Dana and Jessica did a fantastic job. I could not recommend them more highly.
