Godfrey Lake
After requiring an 80% deposit, I was left with a kinked copper tube, two bowed, malfunctioning liquid lines, one of which incorrect tubing was used for and eight electrical violations found by Maine's Senior Electrical Inspector. It wasn't until he screwed the screws into the bracket that Mr. Lake realized the mini-split he assured me would fit into the upstairs hallway was too big for this area, and the reason for this was he never bothered to measure the space. His solution was to purchase a more expensive ceiling cassette and pass the additional cost of the unit on to me. He wanted me to pay for his error. When he went to install the unit, he over cut drastically and gaping holes were showing on either side of the unit. I've come to learn that this type of unit is used mainly in drop ceilings and are often not able to distribute warm and cool air as far as a mini-split. This is definitely proving to be true, and due to his lack of skill, I am left with an inefficient unit I never wanted. Mr. Lake has been informed numerous times of the mistakes he's made, and he's been given ample time to correct them, yet he's done nothing. With no employees and a lack of basic equipment (incorrect wires used, no ladders), Mr. Lake, proprietor of Lake Electric, was not equipped to take on a heat pump installation job of this size. He left my basement and garage a mess on a regular basis and materials were found on the lawn in the rain as well. He never helped me file the necessary paperwork with Efficiency Maine for the rebate. My experience with Lake Electric and Godfrey Lake was dismal.
