I would not recommend Kent Godwin as a contractor for any residential project. I have used him twice. Once for installing a door that I had bought through Lowe's and once for painting my patio and porch. The door squeaks loudly when opened or closed and has not yet been fixed. While the paint job on the patio and porch is adequate, there are two small spots where the paint has come off. I have contacted Kent numerous times to do this small repair, as well as some caulking and grout work. However, he never returns my calls. His excuse is that his cell phone only works at home! It is rediculous that a contractor cannot be contacted via phone. He only communicated via email. Again, I have emailed him numerous times, but he just ignores the emails. It is very difficult to schedule a repair or project if the contractor does not communicate with the homeowner!
In addition, we had agreed on a specific price for painting the patio and porch. I assumed that the price included both labor and materials. Imagine my surprise when Kent gave me a bill for $170 over the agreed-upon price. He did not provide me with any invoices for the materials as well. He initially told me that he could not find the invoice from Home Depot, where he had bought the paint, brushes, and several other materials. When I insisted that he either provide me with an invoice or refund the additional funds I had paid him, he finally came up with an invoice (which did not detail all the expense).
As a result of his extremely poor communication and his deception with the pricing on the porch and patio project, I will never use Kent again.
