By Cissy B.December 6, 2023Remodel Attic$130,000
We signed a contract with Gold Home Custom Remodeling nine months ago, we reasonably expected our attic remodel to be complete well before now. Very little work has been done and none has been completed. We have no start date for the framing or subsequent dates for plumbing, HVAC, insulation or electrical work. We have received warnings from various subcontractors that they are preserving their right to file a lien. Throughout the project, they have constantly delayed or provided dates when workers will be on site and no one shows up. We have met and discussed these delays and missed work dates multiple times with with Sam Fontalvo (owner), yet nothing has changed. Their workers have flooded our 2nd floor twice and put holes in the ceiling of every room on the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor bathroom has been torn up for months even though we have asked repeatedly for it to be repaired. At this point, we have no reason to believe that Gold Home has any intention of fulfilling their contract. However, they have taken a significant amount of money from us. We have receipts showing that we have paid over $130,000. We would be generous in stating that they have completed $20,000 of finished work on the house. Repairing the damage they have caused to our home is likely to cost us at least $8,000 or more. I wouldn't hire these guys to change a light bulb.

By Dwain F.January 31, 2023Verified HireAddition project
They took a three week job and turned it into a three and a half months and still not complete, waiting on my front door to be hung and a window to be replaced because the framer broke it cracked the glass. There was many mistakes that was made that I asked the contractor to fix that he didn’t so I had to fix it on my own. I have pictures and videos of their workmanship that they did and the things they didn’t do if you pay someone to do a job then you shouldn’t haft to come back and finish their job . Just really let me down it started off waiting on them for five weeks before I got them out there to even look at the project, way to many excuses I started this project the 10-9-22 and it’s 1-30-23 and still waiting.

We signed a contract to WHITE-BOX out commercial shell unit with Gold Home Custom Remodeling, LLC., EIGHT months ago. This kind of work generally takes around 3 months to complete but with this company, even after 8 months of delays ….. negligible amount of work is done that is not even worth of $5,000. There are no specific start dates for HVAC, Electrical, Glass-Front, Sheetrock, Painting, lighting or anything and even if he gave some dates, they were never kept up.
Owner [ Sam Fontalvo a.k.a Samir Yaber Fontalvo ] of this company pushed us to send him the money on the pretext of getting things done faster to acquire subs, raw material, planning, etc. We’ve paid over $53,000 dollars so far and he has given us a schedule of completion of work that changed from time to time citing weather conditions, non-availability of subs, health issues, raw material, blaming City for non-issuance of permits, which were completely UNTRUE. He has no in-house subs and he has no intention to complete the work after grabbing significant amount of money quoted on the contract.
Based on our observation, he has NO in-house subs or he has any subs at all that were available to work for him. Recently, he mentioned “Jacob”, who he said will be working on the project as his sub to get things moving, BUT later mentioned that this imaginary Jacob is too busy to do work on this project.
While waiting for this white-boxing, we’ve lost Four determined prospective tenants/buyers and have incurred heavy losses by paying Mortgages, Taxes, HOA fees with no tenants. This entire episode has caused us financial loss and emotional trauma.
As I see and hear from other victims, he has been doing this again and again with new people and gouging their money at will in the name of remodeling/construction. He NEEDS TO BE STOPPED.
